I needed to hear something like this, I had my CDL but I gave it up 10 years ago, Work injury, divorce, child custody stuff…(almost gave up in life), then my mother has been loosing her abilities and I am her only caregiver. I know her end nears, I will be an emotional wreck but I know it will happen one day. My plan after my mom’s rest is to continue with my life, put my best stuff in storage and take on the road again. These California career programs will be a great help for me, my life was wrecked and everything that took my lifetime to built was gone in a span of 4 painful years. Now I just turned 50 years old and I am back in square one, like a high schooler, a 50 year-old high schooler. 😂 Anyhow, thanks for sharing that information, I will begin my information hunt. 😎👍🏽

Just got grant approved through wioa program going to western Pacific! Worth the application process 6100$ it's covering I have been employed for 8 years lost my job from covid then had my second baby one year ago, I'm grateful to have been able to be a tax payer and now being on the other side and needing the help very excited to start in june

I graduated first shot for my manual license and got a local job for 23$ an hour with a great company 9 days after license obtaining, I don't go over an hour away and live 1.5 miles away from my work and and able to go home and do school pick up for my son and work 8 hours a day 5 days a week with raises yearly it worked out very well for me for my very first job and so quickly

Asian Mai is making it sound easy but it's not. From that school listing there is no direct link to an application of any sort to find out if you're qualified to receive such training for free. You have to look up an Employment Development Department office known as a America's Job Center and these offices all have different names and it's not clear at all if they are part of state or federal agencies or not. At the end of the day this is a good start for figuring out how to possibly get free training, key word is "possibly", but it's not as easy as this guy is making it sound. After finding your local EDD office you have to call them and ask about how to apply for WIOA grants, which as you can probably guess is not going to be easy, these people at state run offices are like employees from the DMV, underpaid and don't really give a sh*t about you. Update: Found out you need to make under 30k gross per year to qualify in California.

Thanx! Does anyone know if carriers actually get drivers that go to these schools in the Los Angeles caljobs dmv list? Cuz if they don't like getting students from that list, then what's the point? I want a Class A license. I heard some carriers only like to get students from certain schools. What schools in LA and surrounding areas do Swift and Northern Refrigerated go with to get drivers? So Does it really matter what private schools we go to??

So my local workstop is out of money till July, it's mid April rn. Alot of these schools also get booked about 2 months in advance so I'd have to wait till October/November to finally obtain my cdl. My permit will expire by then. Should I bite the bullet and pay for it on my own? I need to find work ASAP can't wait that long. What would yall do in my scenario??

If the training is free does that mean the trainers do not get paid as well? And IF they do get paid the question is HOW do they get paid? IF your answer is they get paid by the state/government through means of taxes then it is not free training because someone else was forced/coerced into paying for it! The bottom line is nothing is free not even the air you breathe

Basically the school is a normal school and if you get a grant that the state pays your tuition. So Yes, you pay taxes so you deserve the schooling
