The headline says "modern" equipment. Some of that shit predates the Red River Rebellion.

Canada has a total of 138 McDonnell Douglas CF-188A&Bs, 76 in service. You can't imagine how many hours it takes me to prepare an information video. I do a lot of research on the internet. Anyway, thanks and have a good evening.

@@MilitaryEncyclopedia48 One of the reasons the Navy has so much equipment is the size of our coastline but also we produce the ships domestically so that has spinoffs to the local economy. In order to reach 2 per cent of GDP we should be producing local equipment that also adds back to GDP. Cannot be a net importer of foreign hardware if we want to pull our weight in the manner allies and partners define it.

Canada has the best trained military personnel in the world! I should know as I spent 30 years working in Defence and geopolitics. Throughout my career I would often ask, why is our military so underfunded and under-equipped. I often got vague answers that didn't make sense or satisfy my curiosity, until a senior figure at Global Affairs sat me down and said: "we deliberately keep our armed forces small so we fly under the US radar." The reasoning stands that so long as we can't do serious damage to a potential adversary, the US will not perceive us as a threat and will leave us alone. Given the US military build up at Fort Drum on the eve of the 1995 Quebec referendum, I finally got my answer.

I have no doubt that our military is well trained and capable since I have several relatives who retire from and who are currently in the Armed Forces. It's too bad though that there is ample equipment for them to do their job effectively. A lack of equipment puts everyone's safety at risk especially those who could potentially end up in the front line which I sincerely hope does not happen.
