I once had an mri after an accident because my doctors were concerned about a possible neck break. I had never had an mri before and I was completely unprepared. I had a panic attack when the first sound played, but I am now deeply fascinated with the topic of mri, so I’m grateful for this channel as an informative and interesting resource!

I recently had an MRI PET/CT scan. All I can say is just think about something that makes you happy, that you want to get out of there and go home to see. Makes it a lot easier, less stressful. Close your eyes and just think of that someone or something. I promise.

Yes. This describes it perfectly. I sadly had to have mine in a mobile unit and there were no headphones with music offered. They did offer earplugs but sadly it was just not enough. Ten minutes into it I literally felt like I was going crazy. Lol. I had to focus on the fact that it would soon END. The techs were super. That helps also.

Had a brain scan today. The headphones really muffle the sounds and it wasn't as loud as I expected, thankfully. I was nervous and scared, but it was honestly pretty relaxing. The worst part was the silence between the noises, since you didn't know what noise to expect next. At the end, I was excited to hear the new noise and I didn't realize that I was done with the scan.

as i understand it, the only sounds that are caused by mechanical movement are the continuous chirping or breathing sound, in the background, of the cooling system working to keep the magnets cool, and the magnet coil occasionally slapping the casing of the donut ...the vast lion's share of the sounds are entirely due to electrical stimulation of the magnets and the unavoidable (and required) sounds that such stimulation causes.
@SimplySarah93
@SimplySarah93 6 ай бұрын
It’s an electromagnet. The mri sends magnetic pulses through your body and causes the hydrogen atoms in your body to spin and in turn reads the signal it gives off and is able to put those signals together to form an image. Hydrogen is magnetic. The magnets are suspended in liquid helium and when they produce an image they spin around in the tube

Had my first scan ever today. The sounds are truly out of this world. This video and others here are very informative. But when you’re in the machine the sound is beyond annoying. Before you know it, it’s over and you’re getting dressed. Mine took 50 minutes.

I would really like to know where this constant and cyclical noise comes from, which comes from the machine all the time... even when the coils are not working... this noise sounds like a bellows opening and closing all the time. Its a pump or something like that?
@MRIPETCTSupportEngineer
@MRIPETCTSupportEngineer 6 ай бұрын
You're absolutely correct! That's the cryogen pump assembly (coldhead and compressor) making the cyclical noise. You can find additional information about the MRI scan sounds here: (What Makes The Different MRI Scan Sounds) kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5qaXml7Z71okM0

Idk why. I know there nothing to worry about considering it was my first time. I felt like I was going to die even know all MRI dose to you is scan your body in a different way to other scanning machines such as CT and X Rey😂. (I know MRI scans are different to CT and X Rey)

Being put into a tight tube and told to stay still does make some people panic. It's not uncommon. I got too anxious and they didn't let me keep trying. I'll have to try again another time. I'm looking at wide bore and open bore machines. If you feel super anxious too it may make it less bad.

@@kioku119let me tell you a story about how and why I got an MRI. So at my school it was lunch time and we where playing basketball 🏀 together with my school mates and the best player on the other team was dribbling and I was right beside him trying to get the ball off him and he saw me and he stoped really fast and I kept going forward and when I tried to stop my right ankle on the outside not the inside part. I rolled so hard that I couldn’t even put pressure on it. I went to one Physio but they were not good but then my mum remembered an old friend who works at a physio. They had the best chance of getting it better. After a few times of going there the physio said I think he needs an MRI because my ankle was not getting better I went to get the MRI done and when I hoped into the machine I was feeling fine until I wanted to ask a question because I started feeling anxious 😬 when I started talking to him I started to tear up. I got so scared the rest of the time I was in there but after I was finished they said if you ever come back for another MRI there’s nothing to worry about and I felt so relieved that, that was over. They said I had 2 cysts in my ankle but they where tiny so I didn’t have to get surgery and till this day I’m doing foot and ankle exercises that the physio has sent us to do. Hope you enjoyed my story about how I sprained my ankle 😊

It just takes a long time when you're in the machine, I had one today for my shoulder after they injected dyes into it and all that good stuff, I fell asleep for about 1/3 of it and played like made up Star wars movies in my head based off the sounds and then the other 3rd I was trying not to laugh at the sounds it was making because mixed with the music they had playing in the headphones, it sounded pretty funky😂
