red velvet is truly top 3 girl groups of all time, their discography is unmatched! and their concepts, visuals and vocals are so unique and beyond impressive.

also for another top 3 GG (who really has a lot of members LOL) you should check out LOONA! they’ve unfortunately had to leave their company and be split up into several separate groups (ARTMS, Loossemble, and then soloists Chuu and Yves) but they’re truly sooo unique and have an amaaaaazing discography and videos. the 12 members debuted 1 at a time, each getting their own solo video/song, before debuting as a part of 3 different subunits that each had mini albums, before then debuting as a whole group! they also introduced to kpop the concept of a collective lore and continuing narrative between all of their videos, which adds another layer to their art and created a very devoted fanbase that was always searching for new clues every time a video was released. i personally think they have some of the most, if not the most, refined and artistic videos in kpop. their long time video production team Digipedi is legendary and has made so many iconic and unique videos, with LOONA and with other popular groups.

I love how you asked if red velvet are new they are far from it lmao. Cosmic is their track for their 10th anniversary! They are most known for their insane discography and are called the bside queens. Not to mention they have the best vocalist of the 3rd gen (and dare i say 4th as well) Wendy who has an insane range and amazing technique. Alongside seulgi who is one of the best 3rd gen female dancers but dont let that fool you she is the lead vocalist as well and has some amazing vocals. Would love to see you listen to more of their stuff as they have a lot of range in genres you will def find at least a few songs that you will like. They never repeat concepts so don't expect a certain sound from them!

If you like balleds then I rec little little, light me up, hello sunset, celebrate, moonlight melody, iced coffee, scenery. If you like more up tempo cute songs then day 1, about love, bubble, love arcade, ladies night, ladies room, carpool. If you like synth pop/city pop then I would try will I ever see you again, you better know, pushin and pullin, I just, look, body talk, so good, in and out, sunny afternoon, all right, butterflies, bamboleo. If you like just straight up pop then sunflower, jumpin, milkshake, Bing Bing, sunny side up, in my dreams, beg for me, zoom, bye bye, better be, knock on wood. Of course there is a lot more I didn't include and not all of these songs fit the genres I listed but they are similar enough that I include them. They have so much music so if this overwhelms you I would just listen to some of their albums my personal favs are cosmic, rbb, chill kill, feel my rythem, and the perfect red velvet

I'm here for TWICE!!! they have been together as Twice for nearly ten years and have always put out hits, their B-sides are great. They will literally will become your happy medicine. Their charm can't be denied, they are super talented, their choreo videos are insane, they write a lot of their songs. They are all characters, and they always make laugh. They have content for days, they feed us "Once ""fandom name" a lot. NewJeans is my absolute fav gg. Their MVs are toptier, as well as their songs. Their songs just keep on getting better and better the more I listen to it. I would love for you to do a deep dive on redvelvet! They are Known for there amazing vocal, experimental songs as well as there dark and interestingconcepts. All their songs are pretty unique! They have to sides their Red, which is more cute and pop. The 2nd side is their Velvet side, which is darker and will have more rnb undertones. I recommend watching their killing voice. It's kind of a speed run of their more popular songs.

Kpop has also helped me heal my inner femininity. I grew up with all brothers, I hated "girly" things, and society tells us that being "boyish" is better, whether you're a boy or a girl. (For example, you ever noticed that people are more accepting of a masculine/stud or butch type of women but when it comes to hyperfeminine type of men, it's a problem all of a sudden? The issue is never them being gay but being feminine.) Now that I've been into kpop, I can appreciate a cute dress or brighter colors and show my softer side. I love a lot of girl groups (too much 😭) I support them all but the one that has my full heart is Dreamcatcher! They are the definition of unapologetically themselves. Rock is not a common or accepted genre in Korea but these girls did it anyway! They include rock in all of their title tracks (and bsides) and mesh it with other genres! I heavily recommend them. They are talented vocalists, one of the best in my opinion.

Big tip here for understanding a music video storyline, especially when it’s confusing - there is typically a reference to a piece of art that covers the gist of it. (Whether a painting, poem, myth, etc.) Beyond that it’s really up for interpretation and/or explained further in a behind the scenes feature. ETA: I really appreciated what you shared about your personal connection to the cute side of kpop! Not identical but…I’m a white woman who had a similar experience in that I was always more androgynous (I was a tomboy when I was younger), and both friends and family were occasionally trying to get me to look more cute/girly. Mind you, I had nothing against this presentation, but it just didn’t fit ME. I had fun with toys aimed at girls but I had just as much interest in activities that weren’t pushed onto girls. Suffice to say… I love the variety of concepts in K-pop! :)

Here for RV (and lowkey BP because they are besties) lol I've seen others recommend you their stuff but I just want to warn you that Red Velvet music videos are weird lol BLACKPINK, TWICE, and Red Velvet all reign as the queens of the 3rd generation of K-Pop and all of them have a distinct feature; BP being the cool bad b one, TWICE being the happy and cutie one, and there's RV aka the beautiful bipolar weirdo lol they have the witchy and culty identity. You'll often see RV being very playful (a little too playful tbh) and pranking each other in MVs. They're tend to kill someone or each other too, if not shown in the video, it's depicted in the lyrics but only implicated and not directly. According to the SM Universe (SM group lores are all connected, you'll see it more if you react to Aespa too), Red Velvet are transcedental beings in communion with the gods. Anyway, in reality, they are all introverted women who prefers being at home and are very much loving of each other even though they're not showy lol as they said, they're very mild individuals and are rather chill but are extremely loud when together lmao PS. Their "weirdo" extends towards their music so people tend to not like some of their songs in the first listen like Zimzalabim and Chill Kill because of the switch ups. I do recommend doing album listen for all of their discography because they have a wide range of genre.

Just a clarification, idk the lore behind BP and TWICE, I just mentioned their image as a K-Pop group haha they are actually the 3rd gen groups of K-Pop's 3 biggest agencies (now four with Hybe) with YG who's more into rap-heavy and swag handling BP, JYP who's more into performances and dances handling TWICE, and then there's the oldest SM who's the most well-known in the vocal and concept department handling RV. All of SM's groups/idols are apparently a part of a universal lore created by the company's founder Lee Sooman but he was kicked out of the company so they aren't as lore-heavy anymore. SM also handles NCT127 and EXO which you reacted to for boygroups.

i think im a bit too late to comment and idk if u r gonna see this, but i just wanted to explain to u NewJeans mvs meanings. First u need to know that their mv's like cool with you, ditto and omg (u didnt see it in this vid), have a little complicated lore¿?, so for people that dont know anything about can be confused the first time they see the mvs (i was like that the first time). im going to divide the explanation in two parts. 1) cool with you (you gotta see both sides, side a and b). In the music video for cool with you the protagonist is hoyeon, dressed in black and playing the role of cupid. she follows people and observes them to make them fall in love (we can see that in the elevator scene). one day, hoyeon visits an art gallery and meets a mortal man, who is psyche. hoyeon falls in love with psyche but faces an internal conflict because, due to a curse, cupids are forbidden from falling in love themselves; their role is to make others fall in love, not themselves how hoyeon is extremely in love with this man, hoyeon renounces her powers to be with psyche, symbolized by the rain: initially, she does not get wet because she is invisible, but after renouncing her powers, she is seen in the rain, indicating that she has become a mortal. in the end, a new cupid appears (the old man) who disapproves of hoyeon and psyche's love and assigns psyche a new love to separate him from hoyeon. despite this, hoyeon decides to fight for her love, as it is all she has left. boost: get up is basically just the same vibe from cool with you but it’s an intro, u can see it’s the same place, and i think it’s lyrics are related to cool with you story, but it’s the after of what happened. 2. ditto mv my opinion it’s way more significant that cwy (cool with you) bc it talks about a real situationship, a real problem. for this one u also gotta see both sides (first side a and then b). For this one i really recommend u to watch Hyeautiful’s vid, the name is “NewJeans Ditto Will Change How You See K-pop Forever”, sorry if i couldn’t explain 😭, ditto is a little bit more difficult to explain so i hope this helps! i also recommend u to watch omg’s mv, u can also watch the theory of the meaning of the mv in this same channel, ty for reacting to NewJeans! 💕

NewJeans 'cool with you' you need to watch both parts for it all to make sense... in side a the girl in black is cupid... newjeans represent the 9 muses who in mythology follow cupid around with song and dance... cupid falls for the guy herself and her shedding her clothes in the rain symbolizes her giving up her divinity to become human so she can be with him... i won't spoil the rest till you see side b... but thats side a pretty much. Also the genre is UK Garage a popular club sound here in the UK late 90s

This video is 4 weeks old, so not sure if anybody ever told you, but "side B" of Cool with You is the exact same song, but the story picks up where it left off at the end of side A. It's a real Greek tragedy. Literally. It's a retelling of Cupid and Psyche, but with a gender reversal. It was also the subject of the painting she was looking at. Also, they tacked on another very short song at the end of Side B so it's worth watching. Ditto Side B reveals the twist almost immediately, but the ending is different. In Side B she gives up her obsession with NewJeans and ends up with the guy, rather than being alone in her delusions like in Side A. LOL you saying Cosmic MV was "cutesy" - it was a retelling of a horror movie on Netflix called Midsommar about a murderous cult. The 3 minute comment wasn't about Red Velvet but K-pop in general lately, being more focused on Tik Tok content than whole songs. Red Velvet are the queens of vocal layering and harmonies. They've recently dethroned Twice as my favorite girl group. They are not new - they celebrated their 10th anniversary since debut on Aug 1.

If you think Twice has a lot of girls, you’re gonna think TripleS is an overload lol. TripleS is the female version of NCT. They have 24 members ages vary from 23-14(Ik the maknae is really young, but she is very talented and mature for her age). They have an amazing discography. TripleS has a couple of subunits, some are Acid Angels from Asia, Krystal eyes, Aria, NXT, Glow, LOVElution, EVOLution, an OT24 debut, and some upcoming units.
