OMG, LOVE IT! H.A.T.E.U. stands also for "Having a Typical Emotional Upset". I love her performance on David Letterman singing this song... She was so emotional! (And I think you will like "GTFO" - from the Caution album - as well) About It's a wrap, she released a second version of the song as a bonus track for her next album "Me. I am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse", with Mary J. Blige. It's amazing! Betcha Gon' Know also appears like a bonus track on it, but it's with R. Kelly, so we hide this in the fanbase. Up Out My Face received a video with Nicki Minaj. It was the first time Nicki recorded a video, I think... It's unbeliveable how their friendship ended during American Idol. Angels Cry also received a version with Ne-Yo. Well, she had planned to release "Angels Advocate", a new version of "Memoirs", with feats in all of the songs. But the record label didn't buy the project, so she only made a few remixes... And I think it's important to note that "Languishing" shows very clearly the way she used to feel about her Bipolar Disorder, something she only reveiled in 2017. "I want to know what love is" is, still to this day, the song that remained the most time in #1 in Brazil (where I live), a total 27 weeks. I would love to see your reactions to "Up out my face feat. Nicki Minaj", "Angels Cry feat. Ne-yo" and "It's a wrap feat. Mary J Blige". And, of the next album, don't forget the bonus track "The art of letting go", a masterpiece!

Memoirs is one of her best albums. It's in my top 5. It's highly underrated and didn't perform well commercially given that around this time. Techno pop started to make a resurgence and Mariah chose to stick with what she loved pure R&B/ Hip Hop. But this album has soo many classics. It's a very free spirited and funny album. The lyrics are some of her best since Butterfly and she really went off with the shade. Up Out My Face has a really good remix with Nicki Minaj before their feud so give it a listen. H.A.T.E U has a good remix too it's a fun version ft Gucci Mane and OJ the Juice man. She does this insanely high whistle tones at the end. Angels Cry has a KZbin video ft NeYo which has over 100M views and it's a really nice duet.

Actually, 3 weeks before her album dropped there was a leak with millions of illegal downloads. Her label was still trying to get that under control when her second single dropped. There was a lot of anticipation for this one. Then, she found out she was pregnant and had to stop promo. She did a bunch of mini concerts instead to promote it, but it was short lived - she miscarried.

SCREAMING OMG!!! I'm so happy!!! I love this album a LOT. It's one of Mariahs most lyrical works yet but you can tell she was at a place where she just wanted to have fun musically. I love this album just because of how MARIAH the album is, it feels like a grown-up Mariah that still wants to let her younger self feel everything she couldn't. I love every song on here for different reasons. The Up Out My Face Reprise almost feels like that's where the movie she made us visualize with Betcha Gon Know came to an end and we move on to her love with Nick Cannon (🙄 he's trash now) displayed through layers. (It feels like something that would be played as the credits rolled in a teen heartbreak movie) Languishing was about her family and how they would not be there for her when she was most in need and her success was unstable (Glitter) and its flow into "I Wanna Know What Love Is" feels like a beautiful story of desire and hope that she still keeps burning inside of her regardless of the shit that gets thrown her way. I hope you take your time with the next album lol. the lambs had to wait almost 5 years for Me I am Mariah.. the Elusive Chanteuse. 😭😂 and 4 years more for Caution. 😭 Her lyricism and production only get better on both of these albums. MIAMTEC has some of the most current but still throwback RnB Hip Hop production that still sounds fresh to this day. (A lot of it was written in the midst of her divorce and separation with Nick). Love your reactions and how genuinely happy you were throughout!!! Also, the editing has gotten amazing👀.

One day when you do a reaction of Mariah songs that you missed out on cuz they were unreleased or whatever, you need to add the HATEU Remix from the scrapped Angels Advocate remix album of Memoirs. ITS AMAZING Mariah was pushed to not have features on the album cuz a lot of critics felt like she couldn't do it by herself, which is crazy to think about cuz ALL of her hits have no features😭😂 especially the previous to albums. But she really wanted to do each track with a feature like a remix which would've been released on Angels Advocate but it was scrapped after Mimi got pregnant and had to prioritize herself. (especially since she had a Miscarriage the year prior). I'm sure there were other reasons too surrounding label sabotage and budgeting and just ageism cuz she was 40. The industry started preferring to invest in younger and younger people as usual...

Also, funny enough I'm glad she was pushed to have no features on the album. I'm not always a huge fan of features, especially in R&B and I really prefer to just hear her. I think a remix album with features added after the fact is the way to go but it's too bad it was never released

@@iamcontron It’s a mix of sounds! Mariah described the album as a way to see the peaks and valleys of her life and career that have made her who she is today. You can hear her play with all the different genres and sounds that she has experimented with through her career. There are nostalgic ballads with some of her most personal lyrics ever written (“Camouflage”, “Cry”), old school hip hop but modern bops that incorporate samples from her own song “fantasy” and the wutang clan (“Dedicated”) which is a dedication to the love of HipHop. She has her idol Stevie Wonder doing the Harmonica on a more motown/disco tune “You Don’t Know What To Do”. She kind of brings you into a futuristic sound with “Metorite”, where she experiments with new instrumentation. But she also has her modern sound that stands out on “Faded” (which is lyrically and vocally one of the best. A TRUE Fan Favourite). and with her song “Thirsty”. which combine her modern sound of 2014 and some sounds that are popular today. there isn’t any aging truly. some people don’t really see the album as cohesive but i completely disagree. When you look at the album as someone who knows her entire discography, and you know it’s supposed to represent that, it makes complete sense. I think you can truly get a sense of her artistry from this album. it shows her many sides. Plus she took 4 or so years working on this album and obsessing over every teeny detail. Her children are even included on a song. this album gets better with every listen and the closer you’ll listen you’ll always find new vocals. it’s LAYERED

The Only Thing about this Time was that there was a Remix Album of MOIA titled (Angel's Advocate) that was never released 😣😭. Tho some tracks are available on KZbin. - 100%( was used for the soundtrack to Precious, the Lee Daniels movie Mariah was in , Monique won an Oscar for her role . From there the rest of the tracks are titled the same but remixes with added vocals frpm various artists.
