Absolutely, and why shouldn't she? we don't send children to school to have a horrible time.

My 25 year old daughter is much better than she used to be, empties the dishwasher every morning, cooks for herself ( I taught her how to make scrambled eggs) and mowed the lawn before going out. She is still not very good at tidying her room and bringing glasses down but I can’t complain. Hope you have a good flight today ❤

You & Kev should be really proud of yourselves for making the decision de-registering Sienna from school. Only you know what's right or wrong for her and have to base a decision on that. And you're completely right to celebrate the highs publicly as well as the lows. Hold you head up high knowing you've made the right decision for your child. I don't think the holiday could have come at a better time for you so you can unwind, de-stress and just spend some quality time together as a family. Take care of yourself and love to you all ❤ xx

Sometimes I wonder if teenagers do a bad job on purpose just so you don’t ask them to do it again ours were the same they help us more now that they have their own homes and kids our daughter and son in law came today and cut the lawn and jet washed the drive while husband was painting the fence they are using our house for a bbq next weekend as they’ve got the builders in an their garden is a mess and it’s something they do every year

I always have to redo the dishwasher as well, but I’d rather that than have them do nothing. I am sure they do it on purpose so I don’t ask them to do things, but I still will. I also tell them to redo if it’s not good enough…but the dishwasher seems like a special skill they can’t grasp 😂

I know exactly what you mean about doing it yourself. People tell me it’s my fault no one helps me because I always want it done my way, but my way is the only way that’s done properly!

We both should ..... next time, our teens ask for a lift... take them the wrong way ... drop them at the wrong place. Do this every time they do a job a half-hearted at home for us😂😂😂

I hope you and the family enjoy your trip! As an American I am just curious when you say kids are out of college don’t they get careers and move out? Our two got degrees from good US universities…One a masters degree…and immediately searched for jobs and moved to their own housing and are both doing great. I guess all countries are different but I am curious how things work in England. I also don’t understand driving in England….in the US most kids have their license at 17 and get cars to drive to high school and college. Is getting a license in England difficult? Not being judgmental just curious as to how things are in other countries.

Hi. In the uk it is very difficult for everyone especially young adults. We have a minimum wage which is different for different ages. Currently if you are age 18-20 it's £8.60 an hour. Even working full time they would not be able to earn enough to cover rent, bills and food. At 21 in raises to £11.44 and that is still not really enough. It also depends where you live as housing in the North of the UK is much cheaper than the south. If Jamie was to rent a house/flat, he would be looking at paying £700 a month. Then he would need to pay council tax of around £100 a month. Electric, gas and water would take up around another £250-300 Buying a house in our area would cost around £200,000 for a basic 2 bed. This would require a £20,000 deposit and the bank to loan the other 180, on minimum wage no single young adult would get loaned that much. They can learn to drive at 17 but it costs around £1000-1500 for the lessons. Once they pass they need insurance and that's around £1400 for the first year. College is from age 16-18 and then they can go to university if they wish. But again this comes with a huge cost. Most opt to not go to university because of this. Life in the uk is hard for anyone who earns an average wage, and parents are having to support their children for much longer. The average age a child leaves home in the UK right now is 25! X

@@lifeofthebaldwins wow I didn’t realize things were that difficult in the UK. Not fair. In the US we always heard it was so great as you have free medical and here we pay over $1000 a month in insurance for medical and then our co pays for doctors visits are $50-70 per visit. I avoid dr visits due to this. I wish you all the best. Love hearing about other countries. Our son will be in Paris for 5 weeks covering the Olympics this summer so that will be exciting as the company pays for everything. Have a great trip!!

My daughter is 18 and I also have done everything for her….. absolutely my pleasure but then the realisation that how can she move on independently unless I teach her! So she’s finished her exams … 12 weeks until she starts uni and I’ve got a lot to teach her. No she probably doesn’t do it my way but that’s ok she’s learning her way and she’s helping me a-lot. I am grateful cause I’m a long covid sufferer so it’s a win win we both benefit. Just keep giving out the jobs to them Kayleigh….. if they don’t load the dishwasher properly you have a sink, a bowl and a T-Towel! I’m sure they will start learning the easiest way quicker!
