I've been hoping for you to do more of The Mars Volta. They're my second favorite band right after Tool and I've been a fan of them since their debut but I was never a big fan of this album up until a few years ago and now I absolutely love it. And I agree with your description of their music. Get into more Mars Volta please. To me the best tracks of this album is Metatron and Ouroborous. And their debut De-loused in the Comatorium is still their best work straight through. As a tangent you should check out their old, now active again, band At the Drive-in. Can't recall that you did anything by them. Their album Relationship of Command is killer. Just pick any song. Also you should do more ISIS and Cult of Luna. And throw in some Neurosis as well, probably my third favourite band. Thanks for an awesome and genuine reaction!

You should totally listen to the complete version of "Cassandra Gemini". Don't think you'll be able to make a video on it though, since that particular Mars Volta song is about 32 minutes long! Mars Volta are one of those bands that get better the more you familiarise yourself with the music (like most prog really). Passages of music that initially seem like a tangled mess of noise, eventually become this complex pattern of interwoven motifs and recurring ideas. They're the most ambitious band I've listened to. Hope you do more mate.

Good choice of song! If you're interested in a little extra insight into their process for developing their songs, I'd suggest you look for a track called "Rapid Fire Tollbooth", off of Omar Rodriguez-Lopez's solo album Se Dice Bisonte, No Búfalo. It's the original iteration of the song-- drastically slower tempo, different lyrics, and much more of a jazz fusion instrumentation, but essentially the same melody. It's fascinating to compare the two songs back to back and hear how their work evolved from that version to this one.
@Posit_Zero_Blue
@Posit_Zero_Blue 5 жыл бұрын
Interestingly "Se Dice..." is a bit of a call and response album in relation to the film El Bufalo de la noche which Omar did the soundtrack. Also we see Omar's sense of humor, as the film is called the "buffalo of the night", Omar corrects the title with his own album title: "they're called bison, not buffalo" lol.

If he makes a video listening to Cassandra Gemini, it's better to get the 32 min version of the song (but keep the video shorter than the song's length)

How about Quarantine by At the drive in? The studio version and the live versions are equally good.

I like the majority of the ground you cover. Would absolutely love to see more Mastodon. Roots Remain, Sultan's Curse, Ember City, The Motherload, Tread Lightly, The Czar, Oblivion, Ghost of Karelia, Toe to Toes, Asleep in the Deep. Could go on....just cover them all lol.... especially those...those first. Love your genuine love for the good stuff. Reminds me not everyone sucks.

How do you do this without getting your video removed from KZbin? I’d love to do something like this for my own channel! 😊

Listen to 'the cosmic calendar' by buckethead. The best instrumental piece of music I have ever heard, I would like to get your opinion on it.
