Love to see some Wobbler on the channel! Their last album, Dwellers of the Deep, is simply phenominal.

Right on Jim !! I became intrigued with this album about a month ago and now I’m forever glued to it. The first side is truly entertaining as “ Imperial Winter White “ is musically all over the map, while never allowing one to lose interest. This is the first modern day prog band that’s grabbed my attention since I became a fan of Porcupine Tree ( even though they’re completely different ). They’re also the very first Norwegian group I’ve ever acquired. I’ll have to weigh in on the side 2 episode as well. Great review !

Hi Jim, Did I ever heard of them? No, as usual. Nice intro music. What more to say then that I really love it. I hear a lot of Gentle Giant influences and pieces of music here and there.

an absolutely incredible band, you will find some amazing new prog in each of their albums with a familiar yet unique sound. But i would especially recommend their two most recent albums; Dwellers of the Deep and From Silence to Somewhwere, the latter which has one of the best 20+ minute long songs that rival even the best from the 70s

Thanks for a great reaction! The general prog community opinion is that the latest two records are what really Wobbler is capable to do and where they've fully developed their own unique style, so I hope that one of the albums you bought is either Dwellers of the Deep or From Silence to Somewhere. And yes, the inspiration with not only 70's but with the 90's Anglagard is clearly visible here.If not a whole debut "Hybris" album, then at least "Jordrok" track is worth listening, as it's a true beast that helped to define 90's prog.

First few minutes and Im thinking a quirky Anekdoten sonicallly and later the singer has a very Candlemas like voice. But also theres a nice joy in the bands clarity of jazzy folky rock vibes that feed off of some slightly Deep Purple/Cream meets King Crimson...... ....and we agree!😀

All the Wobbler albums are superb. My favorite is still the third, “Rites At Dawn.” Or at least that’s the one I’ve probably listened to the most times.

Wobbler are a superb band. You really can't go wrong with Wobbler, they've yet to make a bad album or even a hint of a bad album!

Jim, when you were struggling for comparisons it became evident to me that you must not have heard any Änglagård before! They were a Swedish band originally formed in the early 90s and fitfully active ever since, and their debut album Hybris not only became one of the few major prog releases of the early 1990s (and in time has come to be recognised as a masterpiece in its own right), but also set the template for exactly this kind of mostly instrumental "Scandi-prog". Don't get me wrong, I love me some Wobbler (From Silence to Somewhere in particular is fully deserving of its reputation), but without Änglagård I doubt Wobbler would have ever existed. Do yourself a favour and hunt down a copy of Hybris - you won't be disappointed!
