“Labour’s mantra is that it has no plans to increase the taxes of working people…When politicians say they have no plans, it usually means they do, but they're just not telling us.”
Andrew Neil is joined by The Times’s policy editor Oliver Wright and economist Liam Halligan to dissect Labour’s manifesto.

What Labour hasn’t admitted is that the home owners, landlords, motorists, all business owners, pensioners, and many others will be hit with tax rises. Just going about our daily lives car fuel taxes will rise, vehicle licensing will rise, insurance will be taxed, access to towns and cities will be taxed, ULEZ will be everywhere. Taxes on food and drink will rise. Everything will get more expensive so taxes are raised for Labour’s pledges.

The rich will have money hidden behind the best accountants and lawyers. It is not the rich who will have their daughters living next to the foreign criminals Labour will create easy legal ways into this country while shutting down any way of deporting them. It will not be the rich that suffer when working wages are kept down and house prices kept up by continuing mass immigration. It is not the rich that will suffer from increasing crowding as more houses have to be built to provide subsidised housing for immigrants. To make a point that council tax hasn't been revalued since the 90s is a nonsense...every year it goes up by 5% (in my area) even thought interest rates have been almost zero for 10+ years.. So much so that I was worried council tax would eventually become unpayable.

@SireMoon
@SireMoon Ай бұрын
@@nimzgaz7049 I guess we'll see but experience elsewhere, especially in parts of Europe, is that policies like net-zero do not help working people, in fact quite the reverse, hence the rise of populists pushing back against it. As to confusion well that's merely an extension of what's been happening over the past coupe of years where Labour has been trying to be all things to all men. More rights for workers and business growth for example don't sit comfortably together and there are many similar examples of policy objectives which seem at variance with each other. History tells us in such cases you either upset one half or your voters by pursuing one of the objectives and not the other, or compromise on all of the objectives and upset all of your voters. Labour are benefitting right now from not being the tories. That'll win you one election but it won't win you two. Their support will melt away very quickly if things turn out differently to what the electorate have been led to expect.

8.9 billion is not enough to cover the annual council budget deficits. They need to invest hundreds of billions to kick start growth. Think about it. You invest 1 billion, over 5 years how much do you think it will make in profits ? 30-40 % that's only 300 million. They need to make close to a trillion at least, that's only 200 billion profit per year. That means they need to invest 3 trillion for the 30-40 % profit (Growth).
