Your 100% right. Putin is having a rough time with the economy & syria, but he's not in real jeopardy of loosing power. In part, because he killed all opposition. He has the backing of the security services and they have more internal power then the millitary. Even if russia is doing bad, the west is still horrifyingly weak with aid for ukraine, taking an aggressive stance with russia, & domestic millitary strength. Putin is aware the uk couldn't last 6 months in a war, for example. French government is on life support, south korea is fighting itself, we all look like a joke but poland. The best insight into russia is from the street interviews conducted in moscow. Over 50% of russians actually want putin to use nuclear missiles. Think about the degree of lunacy in russia & the less then 6 months in a war statistic for Britain. We shouldn't doubt the degree of suffering russians will endure inorder to not loose. Lastly, history has shown that coups, revolutions, or collapses happen relatively quick, one day we'll just wake up to news hes dead. The overly positive headlines lead people to think, "well why isn't ukraine winning then?"
@giuseppeanoardi39733 күн бұрын
Then you are not paying close attention mate. The Kremlin IS falling, just not in the direct way most of us expected, with russian people overthrowing Putin. Instead they are losing everything else BUT the ground in Ukraine: they were forced to sign ridicously discounted deals with Turkey and China, they were forced to send back indian soldiers to Modi, and they just lost their Syrian bridge state, just to name the last. The rest will likely follow, and it will be a disaster: just think that a weakened Russia means weakened far right parties in all Europe and the loss of any real power for Lukashenko and Orban.

As a conservative patriot of America, I believe that it is in America's interests to support Ukraine. Defeating Russia in Ukraine expands the American presence in Europe via its proxy NATO and through bilateral alliances with partner nations like Israel and Ukraine. These alliances empower America and make its global presence more expansive. Therefore, supporting Ukraine and making it Russia's Afghanistan by flooding it with weapons is a very acceptable and prudent strategy if pursued by Trump
@michaeljennings32073 күн бұрын
So you don't care if we have nuclear war over this ? Because its in America's interests
@RichardTaylor16303 күн бұрын
I agree with the substance of all of your points. However, one aspect of your post does not exactly fit that of a "conservative American patriot," inasmuch as you refer to NATO as America's "proxy." I have never heard a single American (conservative or not) refer to NATO as a "proxy" for the USA. A "proxy" is a stand-in for some principal. Thus one often finds stooges of the Kremlin referring to Ukraine as America's proxy, or a proxy for NATO, to be bloodied in battle while troops of the NATO nations themselves stand off. NATO is not a stand-in for anyone; it is a defensive consortium of about 30 nations based on the concept that the group as a whole can present a much more effective deterrent to aggression than any one of the members acting on its own. That said, your grammar is perfect and your reasoning is sound, so you don't sound like a typical internet troll; a foil, as it were, of the Kremlin-funded bots who flood these KZbin comments sections. Accordingly, I could understand one misuse of a charged word in the context of a post by someone who actually IS a conservative American patriot, and who has the brain power and moral sense to perceive the perversity (from the standpoint of the broader US national interest) of the isolationism being spewed currently by people like Alex Jones, Ron Paul, Steve Bannon, Rand Paul, Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Traitor Greene, Charlie Kirk, Tucker Carlson and Vivek Ramaswamy. This would fit the Christopher Langan who has a wikipedia page.

@ChrisLangan-o2q3 күн бұрын
@RichardTaylor1630 perhaps I was using a loaded word in saying proxy. However, America, being the most important state in the NATO alliance with more than 50% of defense spending in the alliance, can consider itself to be the most lending nation of the defense alliance. In this sense, I have said that NATO is an American proxy. The alliance led by America is for the collective good of both Americans and Euro-Atlantic allies. If America, like Trump suggested, simply floods Ukraine with weapons, we can liberate the nation. Vivek Ramaswamy said in a literal sense that Ukraine was like Afghanistan. This may seem fanciful, at first, but in reality, Ukraine could become Russia's Afghanistan. That is, a graveyard for its empire 😉

A stopped clock is always right twice a day. Ok, back in 2022 someone (possibly Jake Broe) predicted that because Russia had accumulated a massive "war chest" of cash and foreign currency, things like sanctions and oil price manipulation would take 3 or 4 years to hit home in Russia and cause its economy to collapse. We can see clear signs of it happening now after nearly 3 years. Morale on the front-lines is completely different. We saw Wagner in 2023, but no sign since that the army is going to drop its weapons and go home (like in Syria) or turn round and march on Moscow. But its like a snowball turning into an avalanche, it is probably already rolling down the hill, but we won't see it until the last minute. Peopie in the Nigerian delta are unhappy that while the country makes a lot of money off the oil in the Delta region the local people mainly just get environmental damage from oil production. There has been a history of resentment in Alberta based on a perception that too much of the money being made off of Alberta oil is going to the Canadian federal government and the rest of Canada even though Alberta has an average income higher than the national average. So it would make sense that people in Eastern Russia would be resentful about Western Russian cities prospering (by Russian standards) off of the oil and other resources produced in Eastern Russia while people in Eastern Russia remain poor. This resentment would presumably be intensified due to the Kremlin deciding to take a much higher percentage of men from Eastern Russia to fight and die in Ukraine in comparison to the numbers of men taken from Western Russian cities. All this on top of the fact that a significant proportion of the people in Eastern Russia are not ethnically Russian and come from groups whose land was invaded and occupied by Russian imperialists. I think that piece of information should have been more broadly published before the military build up on Ukrainians boarders. It lends to the theory that the West was more than happy to see a Sovereign state lose its independence in return for continued mineral riches that Putin was prepared to guarantee for the few greedy people in 'The West'.

You do have to take into account who's reporting it. If it's coming from Russia, they definitely want to say that they're doing fine, if it's coming from the west then they want undermine Russia in anyway. From what I've seen generally, they're not doing so hot, not as bad as some people make them out to be but not exactly booming either.

The title feels misleading as the transcript doesn't mention Syria or any direct evidence of Putin's weakness being exploited there. It's frustrating to expect relevant insights only to find a discussion focused entirely on Ukraine and general geopolitical strategies. Clickbait like this undermines trust in the content and distracts from meaningful analysis.
