Professor Green is right. I remember a time when you couldn't pay people enough to live in Hackney, now all of a sudden it's trendy and hip.

It's so expensive now. But I believe they're reaping what they've sown because schools in the borough either have to close down or merge due to declining birth rates and the number of people moving out.

I'm one of the few people against gentrification. I'm born and bred Londonder from Wood Green. Nobody wanted to live here growing up and soon as these hipsters from Cornwall or Bristol etc start coming here opening coffee shops and graffiti the area up. Prices original Londoners out.

It's always outsiders who push the originals out of an area. I don't like gentrification myself because it displaces people. It only helps the gentry.

It's called market economics if you can't afford somewhere move. The government is in record debt can't keep bailing people out.

great comment about gentrification. i grew up west of London in a then "working class" town, Marlow. Now it's seriously upmarket there and insanely expensive. i've only had to go to Wiltshire 8 years ago to afford a home ! And now because of this ever widening wealth gap there is no going back

Wow. I never knew marlow was ever working class. Bucks is so so expensive. They don’t care sadly the ones who take it over. Make it a closed shop so just their kids can afford it

Prices for groceries in Finland have soared 15.7% in October compared to a year ago according to data released by the country’s statistics center. The EU is facing a sharp rise in energy prices and record inflation amid anti-Russia sanctions and a policy of abandoning Russian oil, natural gas, coal and other commodities. The situation is expected to lead to energy rationing and shortages across the entire region. The biggest jump was recorded for flour, eggs, coffee and butter. Prices for flour increased 46%, while those for other food products soared by more than 30%. “Prices will continue to rise until the end of the year and at least in the first half of the next one,” said Jyrki Niemi, research professor at Natural Resources Institute Finland, as quoted by the agency. Two weeks ago, preliminary Eurostat data showed that in October inflation in Finland rose to 8.3%, marking the lowest rate among EU member states after Malta. Last month, Eurostat reported that the price of coffee in the EU had seen an average year-on-year surge of nearly 17% with Finland leading the ranking. The jump in coffee prices in the country reached 44% for the 12 months to August 2022.

Presenter sounds rather complacent and boastful when telling the professor that she would never struggle with her bills.
