China will take MORE than Manchuria... they will take enough to ensure their claim to arctic resources. Besides, if Russia is having trouble with security in the west and it affects residents east of the Urals, i would think that under the auspices of the Shanghai COOP agreements, Russia would FULLY UNDERSTAND that China has to "protect the Chinese speaking citizens and residents in these areas that were Chinese in the past.

Russia built the Trans-Siberian Railroad/Railway to defend its "Russian Far East" (i.e. Chinese Far North.) That didn't work well so its Navy had to take the transoceanic voyage to reach the battlefield. 11 time zones sound great until the Navy had to spew smoke for months just to show up. Japan had the home-court advantage.
