Let's be fair; America survives because of cheap labor. There are some products made only by Prison workshops e.g. dentures, blue jeans, military jackets, park furniture, baseball caps. He employs three people, mostly unskilled, all undocumented who pay no taxes, no SS, no nothing and probably only making $10/hr in SF Bay Area because Manuel is loathe to pay the even most seasoned journeymen $20/hr when he gets overbooked. Two years later, Manuel made enough dollars to build mama a new house in Mexico and he's gone. Very observant. But he crushed the farming industry with tariffs and tens of billions were spent on compensating farmers who had lost their buyers. This time he is promising expansive tariffs with the utterly insane idea that people will have to buy "American" instead. Unfortunately many of the items are not made in America or use imported material so even items with an American label will cost more. Had he set up a buy American plan where help is given to companies who want to take back the production of mostly American-made things (a huge challenge but not impossible) and gave them money or benefits for a few years then he could have begun tariffs but not now. Trump is not good at business and his 6 bankruptcies prove it. He sells himself well because he is a convincing liar but he is too impulsive and bad at negotiation or in taking advice to ever run a business that benefits his employees and that is what is needed if you are going see America as your new company, which is what he does.
