All the good will towards Labour has evaporated. It's been 6 months and not only have things got worse, it looks like they're going to get worse still. We sick of hearing about the 22 billion. That's why you've raised taxes by 40 billion. However, in the process, you've disincentivised growth my making it more costly for business to employ. High employment was about the only thing the UK economy had going for it.

@@dpelpal The UK is at least a pretty stable place, both politically and economically, it’s just a shame we shot ourselves in the foot a bit with the whole Brexit nonsense. Although, one side effect of Putin’s war is that it’s bringing the UK and Europe closer together. It’s just a shame that after the break up of the Soviet Union that Russia didn’t develop a real democracy but instead went right back to having a czar and viewing the west as its enemies instead of neighbours - the Russian people would have been a lot better off! 🤷♂️

Very interesting, and the Aussie podcaster is very informative, great communication. Anyhow pension funds actual business is made with leverage. That means, these funds repo a part of their GILTs and use the liquidity for some other riskier financial products, while also replicating and hedging GILTs market exposure with interest rate swaps, and inflation rate swaps, or zero-coupon inflation swaps. Hence ,certain pension funds should be safer investments but they're not so safe. Because the carry a lot of interest rate volatility risk , modified duration risk and inflation vol risk. Maybe regulatory framework needs to be updated.

I recommend those interested in studying fixed income or other segments of the financial markets where trades take place using market quotations, to study the EMH - Efficient Market Hypothesis Theory. Because if Inflation is going down and Bond YTMs are going up there is a market pricing problem. The market might be inaccurately ahead of the curve, which is also inefficient!

No, her plan amounted to giving the rich tax cuts and for growth to magically appear. It doesn't work like that. Plus, she borrowed huge amounts to cover the cuts. She didn't have a concrete plan on how that growth would be acheivd and she didn't submit her budget to the OBR for review. All of which didn't fill the market with confidence because for growth you need investment and there is no evidence that proves giving the wealthy more money results in growth. They usually squirrel more of it away.

Britain has been on life support from American taxpayers since 1917 and still it hasn’t dawned that the only way out of this self-inflicted malaise is to make and sell stuff that other countries want to buy. There’s no future, except a miserable one, in selling services to each other.
