I don't want to downplay the significance of this, but he is WRONG to say that the damage caused by ten times as much explosives as was in Beirut would extend ten times as far as the Beirut blast. The blast expands 3 dimensionally. Hence the equivalent blast would extend in distance to the cube root of 10, which is a little over twice the cited 6 kilometer distance. Regardless, this is an intractable problem. No port, and no population would accept 20,000 tons of explosive, delivered on an unstable, potentially leaking platform (ammonium nitrate reacts with water!) There's no choice but to tow it far away from prime fishing habitat and sink it. Then, these unsafe dark fleet ships need to be banned.

Is it plausible that the Canary Islands need so much fertilizer? Would the ship be allowed to enter one of the ports there?

If in full working condition then off course. That was the original planned voyage. With a broken propeller, rudder and cracked hull then clearly no.

ok, a little correction here: Ten times the amount of fertiliser than in Beirut would not lead to ten times the radius of the effect. Presuming isotropic hemispheric distribution, the effect (the intensity of the shock front) decreases with the square of the radius, so it would be roughly three times as much as in Beirut. Still a catastrophe never seen before, but not to the mentioned extent.

If the ship is NOT safe, then why isn't this ship being forced into safe waters; it's cargo seized and unloaded; and then have the unloaded ship docked permanently.

This is just inducing panic for no good reason. It's a legitimate cargo of ammonium nitrate fertiliser, which would have entered port in the Canary Islands and been discharged normally had it not broken down. The real issue is that the ship is arguably sub-standard , damaged and can no longer manoeuvre using its own equipment.

5:45 Multiplying it by 10 doesn't make sense - omnidirectional range of effect won't scale linearly with power. It'll be more like an inverse cube relationship, so the range of effect would be much smaller than 10x. Maybe 2 to 3 times.

Its such a wierd event that one could possibly think that it was intentional that much explosive power but yet not nuclear can be devastating to the uk or even the environment if it sink the fact that it will back up other shipping from going on that possibly involves Ukraine aid could be a ploy to block or delay ait from other countries to Ukraine.
