Hi, we tried this system... it's not a good choice! Very heavy, complex, expensive, we decided not to implement it on our boats. The idea is interesting but the reality is far from it!

@@liteboat how then to safely row in the canals and between the islands here in Stockholm when teens come rushing on water scooters? I like rowing a lot, but I am not sure how to maintain safety for oneself when one rows in my area.... how do rowers solve the lack of total awareness of what is in front of you without getting a neck pain? I like to get into rowing, but I am just not sure how to do it well in my area.. I also wonder if people pull up their rowers each day on land or let them rest in water and rent space for that normally? what are the standards of how one maintains and one store the rowing boats like yours when living in a city in an apartment? thanks for getting back and hope to learn more from you guys, I am new to this!

Interesting. Where do you put lunch, extra clothes, safety gear...? Or do you just not use it for adventure after all? Also, how fast do you tend to go? e.g. my kayak will cruise at 3.5--4 knots all day, and this should have a bit more power, but maybe a bit more wetted surface as well...? Also, it'd be awfully nice to see it in waves. Any problems with the bow digging in when surfing?

Forget rowing look at Savage River racing canoes. C-1's weigh 20lbs. @ 18ft.-6 inches --Carbon fiber/foam composite---8 miles per/hour on a sprint. C-2's 18ft.-6" @ 26 to 30 pounds weight contestants in 120 mile Ausalble River Marathon adverage 7 miles per hour(thats a 14&1/2 hour winning time with any finish under 15 hours is eleate.

That is a good modern hull, like they have been making for at least 20 years. But yeah, it is going to stuff the bow in anything rough or surfy. You notice that in comparing it to shells, he only promised this could be used in somewhat rougher conditions, amounting to no rougher at all. That is a problem because this does not how the glide of a shell, but is pretty much restricted as to waters. What it does have is a self draining cockpit, and low windage, and it looks to be unsinkable due to the double wall construction. So it may not shed water as well as many open water boats, but unlike most of those, you can't sink it. Or at least fill it to the brim to the point where even if not literally sunk, the waves will have their will; you will not be able to row it; and you will be basically in a very cold bath.
