Timothy Dalton, who played Simon Skinner, said that the climactic car chase, where he was hanging out the window firing his pistol, was the most exciting and fun stunt he had ever done in a movie. High praise when you consider he was 007 James Bond and also starred in the 1980 Flash Gordon. It was primarily filmed in Wells, which was Director Edgar Wright's hometown, and he had actually been a shelfstacker at the supermarket they filmed as Simon Skinner's "Supermarche".

He apparently loved doing this movie so much that he even came to act in scenes where he didn't need to be in shot.

Right? I've watched this a gazillion times and only now I noticed how the doctor at the fair tells Nicholas that if he "shoots all the tiny people, you get to walk of with the cuddly monkey", which I now feel like is foreshadowing him shooting the people in town and walking of with Danny? This movie is amazing.

I can't explain just how glad I am to see you reacting to this! Absolutely legendary! I love that you asked for a plot twist and saying that nothing it happening, and there is so much going on, and the shock of Danny "betraying" Nicolas as a twist was a perfect reaction. Another fantastic thing is the twist is explained at the very beginning in the London office: "With respect, sir, you can't just make me disappear." "Yes I can, I'm the chief inspector.", and then in Sandford, it's the chief inspector making people disappear that he doesn't like.

Edward Woodward - who plays the head of the NWA ... (Neighbourhood Watch Alliance) ... He was the star, and victim, of the classic 1970s horror "The Wicker Man" He stars as a lone police officer visiting a remote scottish island on a "missing person" errand. The island, that appears normal at first, turns out to be full of crazy pagan people that do human sacrifices every May 1st. As he is being burned alive inside the Wicker Man, he utters the words "God no!" The same final words he says when he sets off the sea-mine in the police station.

Nick's ex-girlfriend, Janine, is played by Cate Blanchette. Uncredited cameo, behind a mask. Rev. Shooter is played by Paul Freeman, he also played Belloch in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Michael/Lurch (Yarp) is played by Rory McCann, he also played The Hound in Game of Thrones. The old man with the stockpile of weapons is played by David Bradley, he also played Walder Frey in Game of Thrones. * Everything Danny asks Nicholas if he's done "fire a gun whilst jumping through the air, etc" is done at the end. * Most of the townsfolk's names end in ER: Skinner, Cooper, Weaver, Turner, Messenger... * Anytime someone says "the greater good", someone else says it again. * The Cornetto ice cream cone is in three of their films (The Cornetto Trilogy): Shaun of the Dead has strawberry flavor (red label for blood/horror), Hot Fuzz has original flavor (blue label for police/action), The World's End has chocolate mint (green label for alien). * Everything store-owner Skinner is listening to as he happens by the scenes of the crime relates to the people killed: he's listening to Dire Straits' "Romeo and Juliet" at the scene of the actors who were performing the play, "Fire" at the scene of the explosion...

A true masterpiece of writing, acting, comedy, mystery, horror, action ... I've missed one, I'll have to watch it again to find out the superlative I missed. For the greater good.

I always saw it as a multi-layered spoof of cop movies, mysteries, action, and horror. As for British comedies, back in the 70s, when I was a wee lad, the local PBS station aired a comedy called Doctor in ths House. Every hear of that one? Two other excellent comedies from across the pond are Are You Being Served? and Fawlty Towers, the latter starring John Cleese.

Please tell me you've seen his turn as James Bond. His second one, "Licence to Kill" is every bit as gritty and edgy as the rightfully lauded Daniel Craig films. Looking back, he was a TERRIFIC James Bond - but unfortunately too far ahead of his time. A young Timothy Dalton would be the perfect replacement for Daniel Craig today. We're ready for him now (sadly)

If you like British comedies I recommend the Carry On series (25+ movies) - my favourite is 'Carry On Screaming' (1966) - a hilarious spoof of Horror Movies. Also 'Carry On Camping' (1970) is on You Tube and full of the double-entendres, innuendos, word play & general sauciness the series is famous for (Austin Powers stole alot of their jokes). Deliciously non-pc with wonderful characters actors knocking it out of the park in comedic timing & delivery. And look out for the 2 famous Dr Whos in those movies😊

Sorry, EXIT one video. Goodbye. Your voice (Kay) is MUCH LOUDER than the actual movie (because of the way you have chosen to set the volume levels), so I turn the volume *UP* so I can hear the X@X@X@ing movie and then I am BLASTED OUT OF MY SEAT by *MASSIVELY LOUD* comments from you. So I turn it down and then the film is so quiet I have to turn it up again, when... surprise, surprise ... *_BOOOOM_* your comments are at least 10dB louder. Impossible to listen to.
@simonmultiverse6349

MASSIVE mismatch between volume levels: high volume comments about the film v. very quiet film, necessitating turning the volume up and down repeatedly, alternating between getting blasted out of my skull by loud comments and being unable to hear the film. Exit. Goodbye. Halt. Finish. End. Quit.

@@simonmultiverse6349 then I must have super-hearing ... plus, I've seen some of her other videos, she knows what she's doing regarding audio Jiggle your headphone cable! I once turned on my computer, and the sound was dreadful - my stereo jack had come unscrewed, so I was only able to hear mono in both ears. It was terrible. I was all too ready to blame the person who's video I was watching, but I simply didn't believe they would make such a bad video .. so I found the REAL cause of the problem I rescrewed my stereo jack - and it was perfect again! If this is the first of her videos you've watched, then - I know - some of the content out there has dreadful audio, so why should she be any different? But no - I watched her reaction to Hot Fuzz no problem at all - her balance was very good. I'm a pro musician, so I know when the balance sucks, and people aren't paying due attention to the audio. On stage, there's a speaker pointed at me - called a "monitor" - I can ask the sound engineer to put more of me, or any other instrument I want, into the monitor. This is only for my benefit, the speaker is pointed back at only me .. the audience gets a well-crafted mix of all the instruments through the big front speakers on either side of the stage.
