Most [SANE] people don't actually relate directly to psychopaths and cold blooded killers. The point of "literally me" is that people can see a part of themselves in these characters because they are very well written and humanised with ""rElatabLe"" struggles. e.g. spike and Faye struggling to cope with their past mistakes, mugen and guts' fighting spirit to survive in spite of their trauma, Re-L and her search for truth and what is "real" etc... Yeah it can get corny af if taken literally with characters like johan, or overdone, but hopefully people just enjoy them as characters at the end of the day and find some sort of inspiration to better themselves irl, instead of just wanking off to self-pity.

Great edit, especially the correct/functional alignment of visuals with the beat is something that many editors are too lazy to do. I also love the choice of characters here, they do not fall into that grey zone like patrick bateman where he is 100% a psychopath and definitely not „literally me“, but the characters chosen are really great written characters.
@kingkrab51382 жыл бұрын
This is why I like it when people choose the duo of Fight Club or Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver. It’s better when the characters have morals (in terms of looking up to as “literally me”, American Psycho is about how psychopaths (society) around a polite businessman turn him into a monster and no one cares.)
@vbox7hero2 жыл бұрын
You missed the point of the movie/book if you think Patrick Bateman is a psychopath. If he resembles anything it would be a sociopath, but in reality he is a character which is just some out of control dude. The point is that the people around him are psychopaths. The ENTIRE point of the book, though, is that society is so caught up with themselves that they don't notice this mass serial killer wandering around in their midst. That is according to Bret Easton Ellis, the author.

It wouldn't matter to most people but those expressions add up and support one of the key themes of the story. I’ve seen most of the anime’s in this clip. And I just wanna thank my buddy for introducing me to anime through Evangelion, Ergo proxy, cowboy bebop and ghost in the shell etcetera… Also I actually saw Perfect Blue in theaters with my buddy which blows my mind to think about. First time I ever saw a re screening of a movie from the 90’s. Glad these were my introductions and I really wish I could watch all these again for the first time. Also fantastic video 👏

God texhnolyze is such a perfect work of art. I love that you included it, you generally think of shinji, spike, guts, any of these depressed anime boys when you are trying to capture that listless void feeling, but man Ichise is something fundamentally deeper. The show brings out so well the visceral restless soul and how weary the human condition feels, especially in the kind of wayward masculine sense that feels so prevalent today. There are these feelings we get, stuff that doesn't have exact words for, stuff like being tired of being tired, lonely while surrounded with people, or staring at your bedroom ceiling thinking about everything but nothing at the same time. Somehow I feel like texh speaks to those things so powerfully. Those feeling coagulate into such a unique and powerful atmosphere that permeates through every corner of the bleakest abyss that is the world of texhnolyze. The show never directly touches on any of these things, compared to something like NHK, but man do the vibes really get to me like nothing else.

They're just good characters. Written by real people. A great character always helps remind me that I'm not alone in this world. My "literally me" anime character is Roc from black Lagoon ngl.
