Same. How do you know this without having actually read the book? It's brutally difficult to know the first name of a character typically referred to by his last name, since that's what's in the title. And I didn't even have a date in my head for this book...

I could picture Robin Williams and Glenn Close from the movie, but struggled with the name. It came to me before the players started showing their guesses, but it was after the music ended.

I was baffled too. Reading the question incorrectly, I went with Forrest Gump, given that he was descended from a long line of soldiers... at least in the movie.

When I couldn't think of the answer after seeing the "clue," I thought that it was going to turn out to be a book that I had read, and I was right. I was trying to think of a book published in 1980, but it was published in 1978 and it won in 1980.
