I strongly agree with you on this point. It was great how he used the white bag technique to "impersonate" a more traditional style but then justified his reasons for keeping the lower branch in a literati style tree.

Another marvellous transformation. I have an old ficus I rescued from an office environment only one large branch was alive, so I replanted the tree with the beach vertical. It is sparse and one sided. I feel inspired!

Nice work Peter, I love hearing your thought process when tackling old neglected or misshapen trees like this, of course lots of people will leave their suggestions about how they would have done it better, however I think it is a lot easier for them to write a smart KZbin comment when they know theyre not actually going to have to do the work they talk about. Yes, Mr Chan is probably of Cantonese extraction, from the way he spells his name. But as a side note, it is really the same thing. Chan is the Cantonese pronunciation, and Chen is in Mandarin. They are both written the same way in Chinese script.

Great video, as always. I'm learning a lot. We also came round to visit the nursery recently. It was magnificent. One piece of advice, if I may: the only flaw in your videos is usually the sound. I think you could benefit from a clip microphone and something to stop the wind covering the voice in this case. Apart from that, great job! Thank you.
