In the world of lithium batteries, there are two essential types of connections. It's valuable to know each of these connection types when understanding lithium batteries. This also goes as to which specific batteries work for each kind. If you're curious as to the difference between series connection and parallel connection when it comes to lithium batteries, you're in the right place. In this video, we go over the basics of each type of connection so you'll get a better sense of what they are. What else will you learn in this video? We then talk about the different types of RELiON batteries offered and discuss which type of connection each battery type works with. We cover our standard lithium batteries, our High-Performance Series lithium batteries, and our InSight Series lithium batteries. For information on all of these battery types as well as the difference between series and parallel connections, check out this video today. For more info, head here: relionbattery....

not sure to uderstand the pros and cons of mounting parallele vs series?! ok series, voltage are added/amp stays the same. Parallele...amps are added/volt stays the same. ...

It's not about pros and cons per se, but rather what's required to meet your application. I'm not an expert electrician by any means, but this may help. Let's start with series. Wiring in series increases the voltage. Voltage is like the "pressure", or potential, in a wire or circuit. Think about it as the pressure in a water hose or faucet. Most appliances operate on accepting 12V of that "pressure". So if you needed a 12V battery, you could wire 4 3.2V (3V nominal) batteries in series to create a 12V battery (3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 12). Another example is if you needed a 24V system, you would wire 2 12V batteries together in series to create a 24V battery (12 + 12 = 24). 48V could be 4 12V batteries or 2 24V batteries in series, etc. So that takes care of the voltage. Next is the amp hours, or how much energy the battery has. To increase it, you wire in parallel. So if I had a 12V 100ah battery, that is 1200 watt hours. Watt hours = Volts x amp hours, so (12V x 100ah = 1200 watt hours). I could run a 100w light bulb for 12 hours. But let's say my requirement is to run it for 24 hours. Wiring two 12V 100ah batteries in parallel would give me a 12V 200ah battery. 12V x 200ah = 2400 watt hours. I can now run a 100W light bulb for 24 hours. I essentially doubled my energy. Now as you get into more higher power scenarios, it may be advantageous to wire in series to increase the voltage so the amps (current) can be decreased. For instance, let's say I have 4 12V 100ah batteries in parallel. That would yield a 12V battery with 400ah, providing 4800 (12 x 400) watt hours. You can get the same energy by wiring those 4 batteries into two separate batteries connected in parallel. Battery 1: Two 12V 100ah wired in series in create a 24V 100ah battery. Battery 2: The other two 12V 100ah batteries wired in series to create another 24V 100ah battery. Then take those two creations and wire them in parallel to create a 24V 200ah battery. Watt hours = 4800 (24 x 200). The same as 4 12V batteries in series. The advantage? Wiring. The more amps you push the thicker the gauge of the wire has to be (picture the amps as the amount of water in the hose. The more water, the bigger the hose). Wiring that is too small will cause the amps to be released as heat energy. Thick wiring is expensive. Thick wiring takes up space. Now in the 24V example, you would need a converter that converts 24V to 12V before routing to the appliances.

Can i connect inbuilt bms battery in series?
@cirwo85

Hi I added a second battery to my xiaomi scooter but did not realize that the extra battery I ordered does not charge thru discharge wires! Xiaomi scooter has regenerative charging (charges itself a little when braking etc) so it charges the original battery when braking etc but the other battery does not receive that charge. So when I go a little ways the volts get more and more unequal. At least that is why I believe they become unequal anyway? Is this real dangerous? I cannot find any info online about it. Just that they need to be equal volts when connecting them ..

Is a Camera Battery grip in Parallel? If I have two 7.4v batteries in a battery grip does that equal 14.8v or is it 7.4v? Thanks

I researched lithium ling and hard and bought the relion 100AH LT and temps have dropped and my 5 month old battery has shut down every single night while I’m 3000 miles from home worked fine until weather dropped below 40. wtf!?!?!

Why should it not be possible to combine two different manufacturers with active BMS and the same max discharge current? That would be a BMS paradox.lg.

1:16 - bad "advice". You didn't state you must go "down the line" when connecting batteries this way in series. Simply connecting the + of one battery to the - of another will have bad results if you do that twice but with only 2 batteries. You cannot assume that every lithium battery setup has a BMS with short circuit protection.
