I'm crying. My mamaw has it and we have her a couple times a week to give my papaw a break. She got new medicine to slow her down because she always was doing something. And now the new medicine like slowed her down. A lot. And shes had Alzheimer's/dementia my whole life. We were close because I can handle her. As my mother says, I have alot of patience. I take care of her when we have her because I know my mom cant handle it all. And she was always so loving. And now this new medicine make her more disoriented and she dosent smiletyat much. But shes only been on the medicine for like 2-3 weeks so hopefully it'll get better. But yeah. It hurts to feel like she is starting to forget who you are. So....

My grandpa had it all of my child hood, then when I was ten I’d walk in to the room and he’d forgotten my name, he died about a month later. 😔 When he’d remember things it was the best thing ever.

My grandfather died last month. He had Alzheimer's, for years. He lived in a closed off section of a carehome, where he fell and broke his hip. Getting him surgery would've been so horrible for him without him being able to express that well, and recovery would have been 10 x worse, so my family had to make the very difficult decision to not do the surgery but get him as much pain relief as possible. He went into an induced coma and died peacfully 2 weeks later. Ive seen him multiple times after he stopped recognizing me as his granddaughter, but the very last time he did know who I was, he grabbed my hand and said 'Grow old, that's very important'. It was his way of saying goodbye to me and I think that's beautiful and I'll cherish it forever. Its all very fresh and painful, which is probably why I felt like sharing this with strangers online. My grandmom (other side of the family) died a day after he did, so my life is quite something right now... Thanks to whoever made it this far into my venting session, I truly truly appreciate it
