Hey Xian, I believe it would. Tofu litter makes softer clumps, so you might want to set a longer cycle timer, but otherwise, yes-I think it would work.

I just got it. To be honest i thought about for a while because it is expensive. I have two kittens they are a little over 12 weeks and they like it and learned to use it fast. The odor is controlled and i am a nurse and work long shifts so when i have someone sitting for them is perfect. So far i love it.

One of our 3 cats started to become very fussy about his litter boxes. He wanted them clean everytime, otherwise he was doing his business next to the litter box. We invested in the litter robot about 4 months ago. So far the experience has been great, all three cats started using the litter robot on day 1.. Haven't had an issue with our fussy cat (He is a 20lb male). The machine is surprisingly loud when it's rotating, but the cycle only takes about two mins to complete. If you get the connect model, the app for both iOS and Android are very hit and miss. The app will let you know when it is time to empty, there is an option to set sleep mode times (doesn't work all the time though). No odor issues whatsoever, we haven't had to change the carbon filter yet. It's very efficient with litter usage, one bag of litter got us through 2 months. The cats are super fascinated by the cleaning cycle, they all come and sit in front of it to watch the cycle.

Got this litterbox as a gift for my grandfather who is 82 years old and owns two cats. He couldn't be more ecstatic about not having to clean up after them anymore. I really wish there was something to make replacing the bags easier but this is as good as it gets any every other respect. He says that everyone likes to comment on his "cat bidet," when they come over. It's certainly attracted a lot of attention but all for good reason! If there's any new models that come out in the future I might see about getting one myself.

I just got my litter robot last week. It's very well designed and built, and thankfully my cats adjusted to it seamlessly. However, they advertise that you only have to empty it every 7-10 days (I have 2 cats, so I assumed I'd be emptying it roughly every 4 days), but so far I have had to empty it every other day. It still beats scooping, but unfortunately isn't saving me as much time as I had expected. For $500, I wish they had made the waste drawer larger :(

I agree. We’ve used only Litter Robots since the original model came out approximately 20 years ago and we’ve had all of the Litter Robot models. All of our cats are strictly indoors. We’ve had as many as 6 at a time. This drawer is smaller than all the others and it is disappointing. I’ll always use them anyway, but I don’t understand their reasoning on this. One thing I do to overcome this is keeping nitrile or plastic disposable gloves by the Robot. I open the drawer and rearrange the clumps to make more useable room it. I sprinkle a carpet freshener powder or baking soda on the clumps. It takes no more than 2 minutes and I get extra days out of it. I know this isn’t the solution for everyone but it works for me.

All you have to do is pour the litter in a big measuring cup, pitcher, big cup to insert the litter. Then it wouldn’t be awkward.

All three of my cats use the litter robot and when paired with a good clumping clay litter I find it extremely worth it! One of my cats is skittish and it only took a few days to adjust, he still goes to watch it clean itself whenever he hears it but he's okay with it :)

I have had my little robot connect for about 6 weeks now and I absolutely love it! Best investment I ever made. I have two cats, a 7 year old that is 18lb and a 2 year old that is 6 lb. The younger one took to the box right away. The older one took a couple of weeks but now they both use it regularly. I find that I empty the tray about once every 5 days. The Wi-Fi feature is well worth the extra cost. I am disabled so not having to check it everyday is the best part. I don't even need to think about it until it tells me it's ready to be emptied.

I'm really on the fence and I don't even have my cat yet LOL, I just saw a commercial for this and decided to check it out. I want to be prepared because I'm very much a person who doesn't want to mess with poop. I thank you for taking your time to make this video. While watching this, an ad came up about another robotic, self cleaning litter box that's over $300 cheaper. It doesn't have the cover and was definitely way easier to clean, so I'm undecided. After seeing the video, I decided on the other one, but then the comments from other users is making me think harder. Either way this video was so informative.

We’ve had ours since December of 2019. For a single, small cat household it would probably work but we have 2 cats. One boy who basically stands while peeing and our girl has long hair. Our boy refuses to use it now but when we first got it he did attempt to use it a few times. He point his rear end at the entrance/exit and would pee all over the stairs that you can attach to the robot. Our girl actually squats really low when she pees so often she gets some of the pee clump attached to her fur or steps in it due to not really having much room. I think it’s perfect for just cats on the smaller side with short hair or no hair. We still let our girl use it but keep a Breeze Litter box due to our boys asthma. The one good thing about the litter robot is while it turns it creates zero dust compared to scooping out of a box.

I’ve had the litter robot for almost a year, my cats love it and so do we. It’s been the best cat related product we have ever bought. We use a scoop to add litter to the globe, and we solved the litter being scattered all over the floor by adding the steps that you can also get from litter robot. In the beginning we did not like it as much but as we got to know how to work with it the more we liked it. Give it time, and hopefully you’ll also love it

I still cannot believe I got this box for FREE! I just adopted a senior special needs cat and the previous owner had left the shelter with the litter robot plus a fancy automatic feeder. The adoption fee was only $15 because of his age (11), which is crazy because he’s such a sweet boy! I have not set the robot up yet because he is still getting adjusted in the guest bedroom before I introduce him to my other cat and the rest of the house, but I know he was using it in his last home just fine.

Little suggestion.. when you empty the litter out of the box, try flipping it so it’s horizontal with the hole to pour out the cat litter on the top right corner, then slowly tip the end without the hole up giving you much more control with where the litter goes - great review!! 🥰

I have the Litter Robot III. I just love it and my big boy cat has no problem with it. I didn’t get the wi-fi feature. Even though that’s a lot of money, my house doesn’t smell like cat poop. I just poor litter into a plastic cup and poor it in and level it out with a scoop. My cat is 13lbs and he doesn’t seem to have a problem. I love it. Thanks for the review. 🦋

I purchased the scoop-free petsafe self-cleaning litter box with wifi about 3 months ago... I've had problems with it... the rake keeps getting stuck... after just 3 or 4 days it stinks from urine... I've tried several different types of litter hoping it would help but it hasn't... a couple of days ago it just stopped working, no power at all... so I found this one, while it is a lot more expensive I'm hoping it will work better... I ordered and its coming in the mail, I can't wait... by the way it cost close to $600, not $500... I'm not complaining I love your video's! They are very informative! I'll try to remember to post after I get it to let you know how I like it, I really think I will!

I have had liter robots since 2016. I had two because I need one on each end of a long house. It’s quite a trek for elderly cats from the bed room to the kitchen. They develop hiccups as they get older. But I have been able to fix all of them by watching how to vids on KZbin.

We are on our 3rd litter robot (1 original and 2 robot 3 versions). I highly recommend that you consider getting the extra warrantee coverage as we've had to have our version 3 robot repaired twice (currently waiting on the latest repair to be sent back to us). You might also consider keeping the box (or have a box large enough to fit the bottom section in) just in case you need to have it repaired and shipped back. Even though we've had these issues with them, I SINCERELY HATE using the old manual litter boxes in the down time. Having to clean it out daily with the 3 cats. We have a large bucket (litter container), in which we empty a box of new litter in, and use a stainless steel cat food dish to put new litter into the robot. Fresh Step is currently what we use. We have 3 grown cats, in which requires emptying the bin twice a week. We use tie-down regular (11 gallon?) garbage bags instead of the manufacturer's bags. A lot cheaper. I agree that the WIFI version sounds good. We didn't get that version though. Our RoboRock robot vacuum has a neat app in which I use. I wish more companies would come out with new automatic litter boxes that were cheaper than the Litter Robot. We won't dare trying the LitterMaid or Nature's Miracle. I've tossed too many messed up LitterMaids away and both that one and Nature's Miracle only have 3 and 2 star ratings on Amazon. The reviews on PetSafe weren't great either. Their litter replacement trays are expensive. Would we get, yet again, another Litter Robot in the future? Until someone else comes out with a cheaper, more reliable one, yeah. Just so glad that we got the extra warrantee (I think it was for 3 years, and our last version 3 died after 10 months).

The Nature's Miracle litter has some kind of powder in it which I think is for the odour control which the litter robot kicks into the air when it rotates..I had terrible problems with allergies when using it and ended up throwing it out. I've considered getting a petsafe or LIttermaid in addition to the litter robot just because I find it fills up so quickly with my 3 cats and I hate having to do a full clean of it every week. Between the three of them their pee wets it all the way to the rubber so everything sticks. I bought the litter robot 3 without the remote upgrade as it was 3 months away from being released at the time but was told by Cat Evolution that you can purchase the modification for something like $60 and it comes with instructions on how to install it yourself at home..I think it only needs a screwdriver.

Great review. I went and got the large dog food bin that has rollers and snapping lids, I keep litter there with a cup and scoop for litter refill. Much easier than lifting heavy boxes or bags and less awkward. A cheap 5 gallon lowes or home depot bucket with lid will work too. I just prefer the bigger bin as I have 6 cats. I use lowes bucket to put dirty litter bags in and contain odor with a lid. This way I only actually leave my litter box area once a week to put old icky litter in a bag from the bucket. I'm currently working on my cat litter mixture I feel works best on this machine. Dust is a big deal with all things mechanical. But I'm a firm believer in the most healthy things for my babies. We have the III with wifi. IMO, it's great if you have a cat that demands a clean box at all times. By demands I mean that if it's not to his standards, he will just find a nice clean rug instead. We have one of those. It's also great if you hate scooping litter, which is almost everyone. Where it fails is if you have a cat that is terrified of it and won't use it. Be sure to follow the tips that come with the litter robot to gradually acclimate them to it or you will find yourself with a $500 hunk of plastic that the cat hates more than the vacuum! We haven't had any sensor issues with ours that I'm aware of.

I just bought our third litter robot. We have 5 cats. We have had the litter robot 2 for 7 years now and a 3 for 4 years. I just retired the 2 and ordered another 3. If you have more than 3 cats this is the only way to go. I cannot imagine living without them. I would be scooping all day. Are they perfect? no. This review was very accurate. Cleaning is annoying filling can be a pain however I use the 20 pound plastic bins and that works great and the sensors are finicky. So much so that I removed the cat sensor and just have it hooked up to a smart switch that cycles the box every hour. This works very well and removed that annoyance. Yes it is extremely expensive but how much is your time with to you?

For my LR, I have an old plastic cup that I use as a scoop to add more litter. It does get quite messy trying to add it directly from the bag which is why I use the cup instead. I also use Dr. Elseys ultra and found my sticking issues is solely dependent on how committed I am to keeping the litter at the proper level. If I keep it properly topped off, I almost never have sticking. If I don’t, I have sticking pretty frequently. As far as litter tracking, yes that is a chief issue, but my personal preference is invest in the stairs, and the large litter mat (offered together in the clean bundle). The stairs double as an excellent litter catcher to aid in preventing excessive litter tracking.

I love my litter robot! I use a 35 lb pail of litter and just get a cup, scoop the litter into the cup, and dump it into the robot. The Litter robot is worth every dollar!

I have purchased the Cat Genie for only $419 aud comes with sanutiser and pellets. This system is the best!! The world's first and only cat flushing dunny!! Hooks up to water.. Washes pellets until faeces and urine are totally flushable.. It then discharges the matter and returns to dry and sanitise the pellets! I'm sold.. No more buying litter.. No odor.. Another suggestion for adding litter would be to use a scoop or old plastic container (like the pint or half-pint container that Chinese food comes in or a butter/margarine container) rather than trying to dispense it directly from the container. I do this, anyway, with my regular litter tray because the others are too heavy for me to lift and maneuver without spilling.

I’ve had a litter robot since it first came out. Amazing product and worth it, especially if you have two cats. I will say, even though clay litter is easier... you should not use it ! clay litter is very bad for your cats. They lick their paws and ingest the clay which causes blockages and a lot of other health issues. I use a corn based litter with the robot. it sticks a bit but it’s much safer for your pets.

I had the same issue with one of my cats not wanting to use the robot. My fix was, use Dr. Elseys cat attract. Use a 40lb bag over time, once completed, you should be able to transition to use the litter of your choice. Hope that helps

A bit ago, I decided that an automatic litter box would be a helpful gift for my grandfather who is 82 years old and owns two cats. I searched endlessly on the internet comparing products and trying to figure out what would be best for him. I'd been told by a lot of friends that the Litter Robot is the way to go, but after some more thinking, I went with the Autoegg over it. He couldn't be more ecstatic about not having to clean up after them anymore. He says that everyone likes to comment on his "cat bidet," when they come over. So the design is certainly something to think about and overall functionality is life-saving. It's certainly attracted a lot of attention but all for good reason! If there's any new models that come out in the future I might see about getting one myself.

Really great and fair review! I got the Litter-Robot III Connect a few weeks ago and eventually decided to return it after a 3 weeks test due to the following reasons: 1. Agree that the sensor is a bit inconsistent... because of that, there were too many issues during the day that requires a manual reset - which means that the litter robot will pause in a position (sometimes upside down) and needs a human to reset it. My main worry is that if we are all out and nobody can reset it, the cats will have no litter box to use and do their business elsewhere. 2. Space: my boys are not very big (10lb), but they are used to the Jumbo litter box (24 x 17). Because of that, one of them was really confused by the limited space and not being able to move freely after pooping/peeing, which causes him to step on his poops accidentally... (this has never happened in the regular litter box) 3. Cats' reactions (this might get better with time though): They both started using it pretty quickly. However, they both have some interesting reactions lol. While my jumpy one will watch each cleaning circle and attack the poops/pee balls as they drop, the other one can't wait to get inside it again and will often stay for over 2+ mins - which triggers a protective sensor issue that requires a manual reset. Overall I do think the Litter-Robot has great potential, but a few upgrades are definitely needed.

How easy was returning it? I’m really debating getting this. But I have 6 cats (ranging from 6lbs-12lbs) and I don’t know if it would even be worth it since I’d have to constantly empty the tray from the sounds of it. I would love to try it and wouldn’t be quite so hesitant if I know I can return it easily if it doesn’t work out.

​@@MuttsAreMyLife Return was pretty easy as I have kept the original box. So just cleared the Litter-Robot, put it back in, and dropped off at ups. However, you do have to pay for the shipping. It's $60 for drop off at UPS and $75 (if I remember correctly) for picking up at your place. After they receive the package, they will refund you minus the shipping cost.

Probably not, pretty litter is a crystal litter. Crystal litter doesn't clump so likely wouldn't sift out the poop and pee. For 1 cat you can probably use the pet safe scoop free with pretty litter (a different automatic box), which is designed only for crystal litter. For 1 cat you'll probably need to change the tray every 3 or so weeks to prevent any odor. They sell reusable trays you just clean and refill or you can buy disposables that you just throw out.. Will say though that if your cat gets diarhea it's a nightmare cleaning the metal tines and it'll drag through the whole box kind of ruining that round of crystals (hence why I'm here looking at LR which uses clumping litter) For multiple cats, the scoopfree is hit or miss for me. I've got a prissy tomcat who I waited too long to neuter and now will go on my bed, clean laundry, or anywhere if the box isn't pristine. Not ideal for a home with shared boxes. Hoping the more separated waste compartment with LR will help.

I am very interested in getting the Litter-Robot 3 Connect. I am just worried about my larger males not wanting to use it. We have 3 cats and 4 litter boxes and the males (both fixed) tend to still urinate at random corners of the house. I would think the Robot would help this stop but I would be replacing my many litter boxes for only one for my 3 cats to use. I've already gotten sceptical since you are having issues with your larger cat... as both my males are over 15 pounds. I know my female would love it and she is much more lightweight under 10 pounds. I am worried they just won't fit in there... but this is a big investment as it is pretty pricey. I will keep doing my research and maybe I will try it out!

Great review, the small inside size is a deal breaker for us. It seems like a great idea but overall it seems they had to make too man comprises in design limiting it's use, especially considering the price.
