I was in a relationship with someone long time ago and we told each other everything. I'm talking about even throughout the day if something funny happened at work I would text him about it and vice versa. We would text and speak in the morning as soon as we woke up and all through the day we shared every experience no matter how small. We eventually broke up because I wanted marriage and even after 6 years together he was still "afraid of marriage" so as much as it hurt I had to move on. I've dated other people and even got into another relationship but none of those people were into the type of closeness of telling each other everything and while it hasn't been a deal breaker I really, really miss that a lot. But I've also realized most men aren't that type to tell their partner everything so I'm wondering if I'll ever experience that again. Anyway if you find someone who wants to be that connected with you it's a wonderful feeling. I loved it while it lasted.

Interesting, I actually love this movie precisely because it goes against the typical romantic comedy happy ending. She puts her career above her romantic relationships (not staying with Bean), instead of vilifying ex's and potential romantic competition, she herself admits that Joyce is a fabulous person, she realizes its about finding the right fit and not just getting the guy. And there's not typical romantic happily ever after - instead she refocuses on career but balancing that with having a healthy relationship. It's implied that she's learned something from the experience.
@KuturahRiversАй бұрын
@@crazy4beatlesRespectfully I said what I said. There is an unhealthy amount of focus placed on him, depression, and investigating that makes her have refocus in the first place. If the focus was placed on self and not obsessing with what he had going on it would empower us from the start. The movie The Prince and I think that’s the title she decides the same before putting a lot of effort in amounting up with what he needed and chose her desire to be of help to the world through her education. What she decided not what a group or society has decided. Just a lot of movies that generate the same pattern of putting them first without reciprocity. Anyway, I hope you have a good day. 🫶🏾💋

@Veachie Жыл бұрын
1). He never talks about his exes, and he gets secretive whenever Stacy asks about them. Why would he be like that unless he had something to hide? Especially since he had been working with Joyce to get her brother signed up in the NHL. 2). He lied about his previous relationships. He said he broke up with Lulu because the sex was bad, but really that was what kept it together. He also said that he never brings girls home, but he brought Joyce to see his parents. 3). He continually keeps in contact with Rachel and Joyce. The fact that he never mentioned that Rachel was the original owner of Bob (the dog) and has visitation rights - which involve having frequent visits with each other - is a pretty big omission (which are betrayals). Or the fact that he frequently goes to the restaurant where Joyce works, and hangs out with her and her friends. 4). You can be friends with your exes, but you need to be honest with your current partner. Stacy realized that Derek lied about his exes because he still had feelings for Joyce, and that he was using Stacy as a placeholder until he could be with Joyce again.
@Kaboomboo Жыл бұрын
@@Veachie I don't agree with that. You shouldn't be friends with your ex for precisely the reasons listed out in this scene and your last sentence. It's inappropriate if you were romantically involved with someone when you're seeing someone else because you'd only stick around if you want to get back together.
@Veachie Жыл бұрын
@@Kaboomboo I disagree. You can no longer hold romantic feelings for each other but still learn to become friends. My parents were friends for like 15 years before they started dating. They were together for 18 years and then divorced. They have no intention of getting back together, but they have remained good friends. My step mother had a problem with it, but after a while she became good friends with my mom. It doesn't always work out, sure. But that's not every case. The big word here is HONESTY. Being honest with yourself and those you love. Derek was not honest with himself, Stacy, or Joyce.
@Kaboomboo Жыл бұрын
@@Veachie That's good for your parents, but in their case they had a reason to stay in contact with each other because they had children and sometimes contact is necessary. There's absolutely no reason to "stay friends" with an ex if you've no shared property or family that forces you to remain in contact. Most people would not be comfortable with their SO remaining in contact with someone they've already been with, shared a life with. That just tells the new person that there's a piece of them they'll never have because it's still being held by someone else. In this case, Stacy's intuition was correct, because her boyfriend _did_ want to still be with his ex and that's why he kept talking to her.
