Bad does not mean evil. Bad sits between good & evil. Smoking, drinking, not punctual are considered bad. While killing, raping, robbing is definitely evil. You get the idea. I think that's what he meant by "It's okay to be a bad person..." Everybody has their bad side but nobody should be evil.

I have been bullied too before when I was young and that's why I can relate to that boys predicament. The fear just grips you so tight that all thoughts of resisting just seem futile. And so I'd like to thank those people who helped that boy. I know it's just pretend but it still tugged at my heart. And the advice that he tells his parents about it is good advice actually. That's what I did too. They transferred me to another school where the bullies can't get to me.

Agree, it is very easy to say to the child "oh tell your parents" or "Avoid him" or "stand up to him" it is a lot harder to do in practice especially when both in same school. Those who bully and especially bully those younger. Tend to have that younger person so scared they wont tell anyone. Very sad, but sadly very true. One of the best ways of avoiding in school is stay where there is lots of other students or better yet teachers. Do not go and spend your time alone somewhere. You do not have to talk to others just have others around / near you. You may be too afraid to speak up, but I am sure someone who if sees and hears it will.

When I was in high school I got into about 4 fights because I hated bullies. The thing is, I boxed from 6th grade till about 11th grade so I knew how to fight. When I saw bullies trashing kids, giving them wedgies, taking money from them, teasing them, I would go up to the bully and ask them if they had a problem with my friend. Usually the bully had a friend or two with him so they would try to push me and I would knock them out. Since I had straight A's and I was in AP/Honors classes, the teachers and school administrators NEVER suspected me as starting the fights so I never got in trouble. I never started fights but I stood my ground. It felt amazing helping some kid with low self esteem gain some confidence and show them they can ask others for help.
