There is a general average on raw footage, cutting room floor, versus edited film.... and what isn't used is something insanely high! Animal Documentaries may be even stricter since your stars are never scripted and known to eat directors they don't like 😂 (kidding)
@davidsully3483 ай бұрын
Also, they're mostly captive animals on sets made within their enclosures. This documentary for sure. Notice that you never see wide angle shots of the surrounding terrain (with animals in them) to set the scene.

Although most of us tend to praise the fabulous works achieved by those photographers & editors, I'd like to express my kudos on a discerning scriptwriter w/ research team & a convincing narrator w/ that dignified & confident tone of voice who have rarely if not at all been lauded for their influential role in the success of the production. Btw, let's not overlook the effectiveness of the background music precipitated by the sound engineers. This was delightful and informative, thank you! When the cat kept going after the snake, I wasn't sure if she wasn't taking on a little too much. There are so many fascinating varieties of cats, and some seem look like our own home kittens, adorable! Thank goodness the rain arrived after the fire started. The ending bothered me considerably. Why, oh why do we still tear away these gorgeous animals' coats??! How vain does one have to be? Why do we still allow leg traps? As the saying goes: you dig a hole for another only to fall into it yourself. Wouldn't that be poetic justice for someone to step into their own trap? There is so much beautiful faux fur being made; nobody needs to kill animals for their fur now! Let these wonderful creatures live, the forests thrive and let us be grateful for all of it.

So educational, informative, & intriguing that it offers me the impression this doc.about these smaller cousins of lions & tigers or the felines seems to go beyond the bounds of possibility that any other similar documentaries could arise again soon, superseding this one in terms of the sublime & its quality ( or am I too hyperbolical? ). These creatures entrance me, & their simple existence, w/ no qualms at all, seems to embellish our rather monotonous human life as well as to enhance a wealth of thrill, excitement, & even magnificence on our planet, Earth. So my heartfelt thanks to you for this heartwarming, singular doc.! I could watch an episode per species. As you say, we know(Or get to see) so little about the small cats, so I watch anything on them. Cloud Leopards and their like would be wonderful. Ps I lived in the heart of "Antient Caledonian Forest" in Argyll Scotland, My cat derived from farm Stock from one of the oldest Ancestral farming families recognised in the aria. (Before McLain, Campbell, or Mcdgall the usually recognised Argyll Clans). She my cat Kessy was probably well over %90 wild cat and apart from looking indistinguishable from a pure one had no fear of water . She regarded heavy rain as perfect hunting weather as the rain kills Sounds. Where I used my Chain saw there was a recurrent pool of water that could be 8cm deep . She always amazed me by sitting in it watching me work (And always worried me how close she would sit to me using my Saw Horse). When she had Kittens the father came from the Forrest so was also likely at least part wild cat if not pure who knows.

This is why I tell my cousin. Because my cousin wants to see a large cat. Because we live in Los Angeles and Griffith park is home to 2 different types of big wild cats The Bobcat and Mountain Lion. But because I have 2 large domestic cats. I showed him my cat and I told him even though they are small, they are still wild.. and I even told my cousin that even though domestic cats may be our pets. They are still wild just the other day. I saw my cat kill a large bird. The Bird nearly flew away and my cat caught it by its leg. It was amazing to see, and yet it gave me a clue to how the big cats do it.

32:30 I'm wondering if a mother cat's shift to not sharing food with her young is caused by a change in hormone levels that exist after birthing which make her more docile and sharing? Like a return of her ego. Because with many cats, there is a time when the mother cat just says "I'm done raising you. Go."

@metalmamasue36804 ай бұрын
A bobcat has a shorter or bobbed tail and doesn't have the dark ear tufts that stick up like points on the tips of the ear like a lynx does. A lynx has a bit longer of a tail but still shorter than most. Also lynx tend to be a bit larger than bobcats.

@michaelfritts62493 ай бұрын
@@laurenelizabeth8585the shrew is one of the most voracious predators. Meerkat and many other animals are often "violent" toward members of their own species, and even within their own group. It's never "pretty", but it is their nature.. Chimpanzees are often brutal.. and as social primates (about 7 million years since our last common ancestor) occasionally single out and attack members of their own group, people often tend to point to them and say "See? We aren't the only animal that commits murder!!" They may or may not be correct... "What About'ism" does not excuse the penchant for violence, murder and war that some humans "knowingly" commit with malice, intent and sometimes pleasure. Just saying.. Be Well!! 😃

Humans are the most "dangerous" animal on earth as a species. Not going "one on one".. but we have weapons and in groups our ability to kill is unmatched. "What about ants?".. We created pesticides..
