The people on here saying they'd have befriended her or loved to have know her make laugh. Chances are, you'd have treated her like just like her contemporaries did. You'd have kept your distance and gossiped about her. There are people like Edie all around you and you don't notice. It's because she's famous that it's given her an inverted, posthumous status she never had in life. In real life, people keep the damaged and eccentric at arm's length. Especially as they age.

His name is Jerry Torre. When little Edie first laid eyes on him when he came to their door she called him the Marble Faun. He looked exactly like an illustration from the Nathaniel Hawthorne novel. He went on to become a famous sculptor in -get this- marble! She was so astute..as was Big Edie, they both adored Jerry. He is living with his male partner, yes he's gay.

Everything I have read, and its extensive, about Little Edie... Points to Her mother as a trap.. who crushed her spirit... to the point that she could often be mean.. In the summer of 1950 Jackie and Black Jack visited the pair, Doris Francisco observed Little Edie attack a 21 year old Jackie over her father. Shocked Doris apologised for Edie.. "Oh Doris" exclaimed Jackie, "It's so much more complicated than you realize. Forgive Edie, she has good reason to be mad at Daddy".. Whether about his abuse of Big Edie's trust fund, Her entrapment by Big Edie, or something of a more intimate nature Doris didn't know.. But it says a lot about Little Edie, and Jackie's understanding of the situation Little Edie found heself in...

From the first time, I saw Gray Manor, I fell in love with Edie, not so much the mother. Did Edie ever get help for her mental illness and when does she pass away?
@joan-lisa-smith5 ай бұрын
After her mother passed away she left the house as the gay community made her into a bit of an icon. They invited her to perform regularly at clubs in Greenwich Village, she told reporters at the time that she felt free and was enjoying her life immensely. I'm not sure what else went on except that she also sold the house. She died in 2002 at 84 years of age.
