You know I have been thinking with a lot of the groups from the 60-70's songs still around . HOW ABOUT A 2023 \2024 REUNION of the Fenderstones !!! I would hope most of these guys are still around . This 74 year old would love to see them in person !!

The Fendertones has to be the most accomplished and exacting musical project I have seen on KZbin. The finesse and attention to detail is phenomenal. I will assume after all of this time that there are no more unseen video and performances. But what is here to see is sobering in its complexity and execution.

Chanced across these guys on youtube, and now I'm looking to see if they have any official product. Their sheer joy is infectious, and I adore the life they breathe into these songs I've loved for a long time (but am too young to have really had the chance to see the originals in their prime). When you see these videos - especially their Sloop John B one - you can really begin to appreciate Brian Wilson's genius in how he put all these elements together. Beethoven/Mozart-level understanding of the music; he really should be much more revered than he is.

Cindy... This is 2004 concert. Bryn Athyn pennsylvania where all these teachers students alumni are from..it was a labor of school love..no touring..though as you see on you tube they did other songs at home ..home studio and even poolside (see monkeys uncle) ...they tried other group music too though i never could find it. Even more remarkable you can find on you tube other fendertones home studio songs with members of the beachboys performing with them.. * and i heard brian wilson solo show brought one of their lead singers on stage with them to perform. So good

I think the Fendertones are in a class alone. Every time I see and hear them, I'd bet everything they're doing it for the joy they get individually and collectively. I'm not sure how they got so many talented musicians so committed to the Beach Boys. It seems not one of them has a single bit of ego. Their musicanship is epic! Very well done, Fendertones!

Im born in 1955 and Im African American and was raised in Harlem NYC in the 60s. I remember rock and roll as far back as chubby checker in 62. Ive never paid much attention toThe Beach Boys music at the time. I loved the Beatles and The British Invasion and all the stuff coming out of Detroit with The Supremes and Motown records. To me surf music was a joke being a New Yorker. Being a bass player and reading the music press I kept reading about what a genious Brian Wilson was and read over and over about this Pet Sounds recording. One day at the library I saw a cassette of Pet Sounds and took it home. I was simply memorized by this music, this must have been around 95 or so. It was an amazing studio achievement as good as anything The Beatles recordrd except Wilson did not have a George Martin, he did it all himself. Unlike his earlier achievements where he encapsulated white california youth lifestyle into a 3 minute ditty, this was somthing much diffrent. This music transended, this was art in par with John Coltrane or Miles Davis or Burt Bacharach. Wilson achieved this again a year later in 67 with his grand opus Good Vibrations but because of external pressures from the record company and friction within his band he was forced from further studio experimentation. "Shes Just The Little Girl I Once Knew" was released in 65 and is an early experimental track with its odd time signatures and ambient studio orchestration and vocal harmony. A bit of a suprise of things to come before Pet Sounds. Wilson was flush with ideas and was smoking pot. Help me Rhonda is another jem featuring Al Jardins vocals. Both great songs!!

You captured it, Vincent! Anyone who was anyone back in '65, '66, 'and '67 was taking notice and being blown away by what Brian was up to. I myself got into it through hearing an interview with Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce ('76) talking about how the band (Cream) would listen to Pet Sounds before their shows to get their heads ready. Jack Bruce calling Brian "the new Bach". I had to go find a copy myself once hearing that. Then I find out that practically every band I ever listened to (too many to list), from the Beatles, the Who, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, to 70s acts like the Eagles, Chicago, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, to 80s acts REM, all were heavily influenced by and revere Brian.

Hi Vincent, I loved reading your post. I loved Motown, the British bands, Hendrix, Led Zep, the Beach Boys, all of it, growing up. There was so much great music. The melodies, the arrangements, the players, the vocals...from every direction it seemed. There was so much of it. Vocals and instruments in balance. Clean lines. Great playing. Awesome bass lines. If James Jamerson played on a record I wanted to hear it. Thanks so much for your post. It brought back a lot of great memories of what it was like to discover all this music way back when... And thanks to groups today like the Fendertones who are giving it life again for new generations!

The Fendertones and terrific ``cover bands'' like them are modern-day music groups being faithful to the new classics created by the geniuses of rock `n' roll. (I think somebody in this chain said something like this, and I second it.) Mozart was very hip in his day. Orchestras that ``cover'' his work aren't ``oldies bands;'' they're orchestras saluting and replaying genius for our pleasure. Love these Fendertones! Brought me some pleasure, goddam.

This shows you really what a genius Brian Wilson really was. By the time he'd written this song, they'd outgrown the 4/5 piece band that the Beach Boys started out as. They were no longer able to play 4 chords on a Fender guitar and be sufficient for the songs. In order to get what was in his head out on to a record, you needed months of overdubs, a complete backing support studio band (The Wrecking Crew) with musicians far more skilled and trained than any of the Beach Boys themselves playing instruments from reindeer bells and cellos to glockenspiels and xylophones.

Great live job, guys. Help me Rhonda, was my favourite BB song when I was younger. So happy to see young kids keeping real music alive. Music still has a chance in today's world.
