It is like flying. I used to be a gymnast and the uneven bars were and still are my favorite event. The feel of letting go of the bar and flying through the air was absolutely amazing.

This movie is based on a NONFICTION book written by Sports writer Joan Ryan. Therefore they did do their research. The book recounts the lives of over 100 different athletes. They adapted that book into a made for television movie recounting the many different stories through one main character.

Why is it that in all these gymnastics and figure skating movies they always have spotlights? That's def. not accurate. We don't use those.
@kaylamorgan73086 жыл бұрын
ost324 as a figure skater you’re so right! The only time we’re under spotlights is for shows and specifically showcase competitions!

It's a real great film, I really like watching it. Does somebody know if the music they play in the scene before Katie and her family enters Greg's hall? It sounds that good and I'd really like to know if the music is from a song or if there's s soundrack or a way just to download the music~

At this point this movie is very similar to "Perfect body". A curious fact is both movies were released the same year and the plot is very similar: young Elite gymnasts trying to get to the Olympics and developing an ED in the process.

Well, some of it might be for drama and atmosphere and capturing the right effect, and I bet a lot of it is just for the sake of it looking right and good on film. I did a little bit of stage lighting in college, and it's mind-boggling sometimes what one light can do.

I was really good at gymnastics and swimming, but I hated swimming and then started gymnastics class and it took all the fun out of it, so I stopped. Then got to secondary school and hated sports......... I am surprised that half these girls can stick with it. I watched elena mukina she was as miserable as I was and I was only a level 6.

@Daph90912 жыл бұрын
First of all, it's a movie, movies are fake (just like tv, ever seen Make It Or Break It?xD) Second, this was made in 1997, when both filmmaking and gymnastics weren't as evolved as they are now. I started doing gymnastics when I was 5, and when I was 12 (2002) I had surgery on my hip. Before surgery I was training at level A (most difficult). Afterwards it took me 6 years to learn everything over again, and by that time those same skills had dropped to level C or even D. Times change.

Perhaps but this movie is not too brutally harsh. The book was. And vanessa Adler left the sport with a rather negative experience. But the rest of the cast are gymnasts too. Including the deaf girl. She is actually blind in one eye too. But an incredible gymnast. She trained with Jamie Dazinger (sp?)
