My Mother and Father met in Mensa. Back in the day it was for the brightest of brightest. Very Intelligent people, although My Mother with 6 girls never made us feel less than. When she was teaching us a Lesson she would say something that really resonated. Only later in Life I learned she was quoting some of the Best. Mark Twain etc.. She always taught us to Respect Books! Never write or tear in them. And this is the Highest Compliment I can give You. If My Mother was Alive She would be very Proud of You! You kept the Integrity of the books with keeping the gold foil. Which makes these Iconic books noticable . You took Special Care to advance them and treat them with Respect! So from Me and My Mother I Thank You! This one came out Stunning and that leaves me to another question which is hard. I have about 20 Little Golden Books along with 5 different Edith Holden and y have duplicates. I also have books from the 1800s and You have shown me You can enhance and preserve a book quite Brilliantly! What You did here is just note Worthy and Beautiful! Now my questions are Who are these for? Adults Children? And can You Please PM me what this Sold for? That is a Huge Problem for me! I would greatly appreciate it! I have watched many try but You are the Best at Enhancing Little Golden Books! 💜 Thank You Lisa Palmese

Hi Lisa! Thank you so much for all your kind words. Your parents sound amazing! I think the Little Golden Book junk journals can be for children, but I wouldn’t be surprised if adults loved them for their unique and nostalgic value. I had this one listed for $85.00 in my Etsy shop. Thank you very much for watching and for sharing your story! ~Kathy xo

Brilliant! And timely, for me, "cause I am making some Golden Christmas book junk journals. Love the closure! I did a similar one on a vintage journal using a lacy garter hook from an old style garter belt. The elastic stretch was helpful for securing it closed. I like yours for this type of journal. I wouldn't want to explain to kids about garters! LOL.

Hi Kathy, that is a very clever closure! I never would have thought to do that. And the dangle is very cute! I can’t wait to see the flip through. I have yet to make a junk journal from a golden book. It’s on my ever growing “to make” list.

I’ve been making jewelry for years and still have issues with opening and closing jumprings. You did great! One commenter said use 2 flatnoosed pliers instead of the rounded pliers. The round nose pliers are usually used for wire wrapping or just curving wires. But in a pinch I’ve also used it to open or close. It just doesn’t have a nice grip on the jump ring wire. There’s also a thickness gauge to all wires and including jump rings. Some are thinner higher gauge and are easy to open, but with use, can warp it’s shape. The lower the gauge the thicker/ more dense/ stronger the wire ( and harder to work) jump ring. Another thing of interest ( hopefully, lol) is wiggling the jump ring back and forth, where the ends meet, a couple times works the wire and makes it stronger. Just thought I’d throw that in!💜

Thanks or the tips! I was only using the round nose pliers because I didn’t have two pairs of the flat nosed ones at the time. I do now, though! Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to help me out with your great tips!! ~Kathy xo

Just found you last week, and now a subbie. I have some of these buckles and wanted to put on my first Little Golden Book (mother goose) junk journal, but couldn’t figure out how…… yay now I know how. Learned how to do spine with the gold stripe from your tutorial. For my LGB. I did give credit and shared link to you as well. 😁🥰

For the jump rings, two flat nose type pliers would make it easier to open and close the jump rings rather than the round pliers you were using. But you have the technique correct.❣️

Yes, I definitely do need another set of the flat pliers. One of the ones I have is flat, but the other has round jaws and they keep slipping off the ring, lol! Thank you so much for watching and for the great suggestion! ~Kathy xo
