We're wanting to take some younger hikers to this soon and this video was EXCELLENT to show off the reality of the vertical rock climbs there. Thank you for being so thorough, is helping us weigh whether we should do this one or not.

Illinois is more “bluffy” than you would think. There is a Little Grand Canyon in Missouri too. 😄. It has been a year since we made this trip. Thanks for your comment!

I loved this hike! Canyon trails are my favorite. Actually, anything that involves rock scrambling is great for me, lol! Definitely a trail for trekking poles. The views from the overlook are beautiful! Going to add this one to my wish list because it looks amazing. Thanks, Kay and Matt, for sharing it with us.

You would live this one, Tony. Getting the whole crew down the canyon might be a bit stressful, but they could do it.

Wow, amazing location. Was amazing how the water carved into that Sand Stone. Great review, thanks for sharing.... oh, yeah, and to leave you have to climb up the waterfall steps??? :)

Climb down the waterfall steps and then climb up the waterfall steps. Haha. Worth the hike to see it, but be careful!

We recently did a video of the Grand Canyon of the U.P. of MI. I guess a lot of states have their miniature Grand Canyons! 😄 This looks like a place we will want to explore. Thanks for sharing!
@HappyTrailsHiking4 жыл бұрын
Yes! Lots of Little Grand Canyons. Sounds like we need to find more of them! This one is a neat one. We will have to take a look at the one in the U.P. Thanks for watching and your comment!
@TerryX2Explore4 жыл бұрын
@@HappyTrailsHiking You are much welcome! The one in the U.P. is beautiful but comparing it to the Grand Canyon, is another story! LOL
@loribryant36474 жыл бұрын
Really nice! Always concerning when the trail signs say ↘️ then ⬆️. Lol. You should try to find the "Little Grand Canyon" in each state now. Tennessee's is near Chattanooga, the Tennessee River Gorge. Thanks!
@HappyTrailsHiking4 жыл бұрын
That would be fun! Each state! And then eat a pizza in each state too. 😜 Yes, when the trail signs are just arrows, you know you are in for excitement. Thanks, Lori!

Wished you would have seen it before the storm. Massive oaks and sycamores that fell. Many snakes. My 4 yr old used to do the whole trail till the end up on the back side. My dog actually killed a baby rattle snake. My son watched it kind of scary but true of nature.
@HappyTrailsHiking2 жыл бұрын
Would have loved to have seen it years ago. It is a beautiful area! I am glad you were there with your son to talk about what happens in nature.

I can imagine how slippery portions of this trail mist be! I saw a cat face in the cliff at 4:15 😂
@HappyTrailsHiking4 жыл бұрын
We spent several minutes talking about the things we saw in the cliff face. It was a good and interesting hike. Thanks, Heather.
@michaelglodo23892 жыл бұрын
Snakes! You have to mention snakes. The poisonous snake density is high at certain times of the year. In the summers, experienced hikers often wear hip waders as a precaution. That's not necessary as long as you're really alert. Just keep your eyes open.
@HappyTrailsHiking2 жыл бұрын
We do see a lot of snakes on trails in the midwest. It is always good to pay attention for them in the warmer months.
