Little House on the Prairie (later known as Little House: A New Beginning in its final season) is an American Western historical drama television series, starring Michael Landon, Melissa Gilbert, Karen Grassle, and Melissa Sue Anderson, about a family living on a farm in Plum Creek near Walnut Grove, Minnesota, in the 1870s, 1880s, and 1890s. The show is an adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder's best-selling series of Little House books. In 1972, with the encouragement of his wife and daughter, television producer and former NBC executive Ed Friendly acquired the film and television rights to Wilder’s novels from Roger Lea MacBride and engaged Blanche Hanalis to write the teleplay for a two-hour motion picture pilot. Friendly then asked Michael Landon to direct the pilot; Landon agreed on the condition that he could also play Charles Ingalls.
The regular series was preceded by a two-hour pilot movie, which first aired on March 30, 1974. The pilot was based on Laura Ingalls Wilder's third Little House book in the series, Little House on the Prairie. The series premiered on the NBC network on September 11, 1974, and last aired on May 10, 1982. During the 1982-83 television season, with the departure of Landon and Grassle, the series was broadcast with the new title Little House: A New Beginning.

Karen Grassle still sounds like Ma Ingalls. That soothing motherly voice. I grew up watching Little House and never thought I'd be saying that Nellie Oleson grew up to be an amazing, funny human being. LOVE Alison and absolutely feel like Nellie and her mother stole the show. RIP Katherine McGregor! You would have made a wonderful addition to this panel.

@@LieorDie24 ...you're right.. she did have her moments! I think she sacrificed so much to look after her younger siblings devoting her life to them and her teaching job that she resented it a little.. I like to think she got to go on a great adventure seeing new places and meeting a beau along the way who swept her off her feet.. and he was sincere and loyal and genuinely loved her ....I hope she had a "happily ever after" 💙

I literally just finished watching an episode of little house, grabbed my phone to go outside for a smoke break and this interview popped up. I just skipped the next episode to watch it. LOL I'll be 59 in June and grew up watching the show. Before Little House, I loved Michael on Bonanza. I later married a man who looked and acted like him. He was the best friend I'd ever had in my life thus far. I have no doubt they hooked up in heaven because their real life personalities were so similar. I will continue being a big fan for as long as they remain on the air. It was such a pleasure watching all the actors from the show today. Thanks so much for bringing them on. I loved every character from the show.

A little tension in the group but what a great cast of people that I am happy to say I grew up with, thanks to “little house.” I remember Bonnie Bartlett from “Saint elsewhere”, and movie, “Salems lot”. My favorite guest star, wow! So many but I would have to say, I have three favorites, possibly more but I’ll go with, Patricia Neal, Ernest Borgnine, and Johnny Cash. My favorite episode, there’s just too many of them. I love them all absolutely love them all, but if I had to pick I would go with, “the craftsman”. I cried my eyes out.

The best family show in history. They all look wonderful and the host looks like he would be Kurt Russels son. But I will say the biggest reason why people have depression and anger issues is because there was no communication in the household. The shows strongest message was to communicate. When we do that we can take a small room and turn it into a paradise of imagination,friendship,laughter,tears you name it we create magic when we are able to al open up and speak what we feel. The center sun of that show was Micheal. He was quite a maverick. There are many like him in the wings getting ready to come out. To better the human race is a a job that we’re all in together. So this isn’t the end but just the beginning.

Its sad that all of them had good memories, but Ma Ingalls did not. I have seen few of her interviews where she opened up. The lesson for me to learn from this show was never self pity. I disagree. She was completely natural and her lively self. Eating and drinking wasn’t the best move though but it was a hot day.

How did Melisa give birth to her TV daughter Rose when she played Laura Ingalls Wilder?
@Alanb1980
@Alanb1980 3 жыл бұрын
There was a two part episode titled “Days of Sunshine, Days of Shadow” where Laura gives birth. The episode also has Almanzo suffering a massive stroke that leaves him in a wheelchair. And a tornado touched down and completely destroys Laura’s and Almanzo’s big two story house. At the end, Almanzo relearns to walk and he and Charles build a new “little” house for him and Laura and baby Rose to live in. They never show that episode on cable. But, if you have a streaming device, you can watch that episode on the Peacock channel.
