Moving logs can be a painful process especially when the ground you're moving the logs across is muddy and your end goal is to saw the logs into lumber. Dirt dulls the blades quick and so a log loader trailer like this is the ticket to easy sawing. If you're travelling any distance with your logs you'll want to maximize the number of logs you can haul to save time and money. Today I find out just what this Wallenstein LXT95 is capable of as I attempt to lift the biggest log yet and transport it over to my sawmill. Wish me luck!

Nothing worst than getting soil and grit onto the logs, watching and hearing the expensive saw blades go dull from hitting the grit. It's a nice log loader and in it's own way saves a lot of costly blades, your back, and the transport costs. It vastly improved the logging and milling experience.

I really find it makes things a lot more fun for sure and like you said about the blades, keeps a bit of money in my pocket

Hi Sandy. You have become very skillful with the log loader, and now quite ambidextrous. I would give my right arm to be ambidextrous. 😂 Good luck with the log structure.

Very impressive The work that can be done with the little log trailer the lifting capacity, matches the trailer very well and will give you years of use. If it can load the big log that would really be impressive Great video Sandy.

That sure makes it easier with the little crane machine. Hey, Sandy. I was told those fires are pet moss fire of the earth, soil. That there are trees burning also. Can you clear that up for me. Yes be safe and don't get any fire out of control in your are. Thanks Sandy

Hi Gene. I haven't seen the fires first-hand aside from what I've seen on TV but the fires appear to be burning everything from roots down in the soil all the way up to the tree tops.

Good morning Sandy! It's been awhile since I have commented, just been busy with life. It's going to be a lovely couple of days this weekend, so it's going to be country drives for me. Love the logloader, it's so versatile. Greetings from Peterborough.

Looking at that big log, I would cut it off the bottom part and cut some thick slabs out of it. I suspect it would have some pretty interesting grain patterns. Maybe make some work bench tops out of the slabs. Or firewood...

Hi Sandy. I am a bit late watching this video as I had a lot of racing to watch this weekend. You have become more comfortable with the log loader. It looks like it may not be that much longer before you are able to pull straight into position with the tracter and loader. Have good days!

Good morning Sandy that is a good amount of logs very nutty must of been field pine once apon a time with all those branches but you should get a good amount of board , though it does take a lots of board to do a floor , i had 104 2x6x10 feet long to do the floor and floor joices on that porch i was telling you about the porch is 10 x27 i had 6 2x6 left over after the floor built have a great day

If I was doin' it I'd move that trash pile and take down some of those trees so that I could just pull the trailer forward beside the mill shed from the lane without doing much maneuvering, but the way you're doin' it now beats all of the previous methods.

Nice logs, I would bet that you have a little more than 5 Thousand if those are all green trees. We have a 6 X 12 trailer with a crane loader rated at 2500 max and put 5 Thousand lb. many times on it probably more than we should. You definitely have a great trailer. Be safe my friend. Jla

good job and video log trailer will paid for it's self. tires are really high now and keep going up every day.did you find coolant leak on truck? could be water pump , hoses, intake gasket or head gasket. take care, be safe and well.
@sawingwithsandy
@sawingwithsandy Жыл бұрын
Hi John! Yeah those tires sure were expensive. I do feel better knowing they will last another good number of years though. I haven't figured out the issue with the truck unfortunately. I'm thinking it may have to wait a little bit to dive in deeper but I'm hoping it's not too expensive as now I"m staring to question whether it's worth fixing haha

Sandy, you're certainly getting your money's worth out of that log lift and trailer. When you said it had an 800# capacity with the boom and arm fully extended, is that where you have stall on the hydraulics, or where the boom and arm experience physical damage? More geometry and trig flowing through my 12-functioning brain cells. I've already got some ideas on how to lift that BIG log onto the trailer... AND... onto the log deck of your mill. Question: why did you park the trailer perpendicular, rather than alongside your stack of logs? There's probably a logical reason not apparent in the video, but parallel seems easier than picking them up to the side of the trailer... (Think of your excavator and lifting from the end rather than the side). Good use of the winch to skid the logs.... (See? I'll make a mechanical engineer out of you yet)!!
@sawingwithsandy
@sawingwithsandy Жыл бұрын
Hey Carl! Great question. No damage occurs but if it's over the 800lbs it will not lift it. I'd imagine they have some sort of valving in place to ensure that no damage is done. I was going to part parallel to the log pile but I would've needed to winch more of the logs since I couldn't reach as many of them.

I bet you would hate to go back to dragging logs to the mill a couple at a time after knowing how much time and physical labor the log loader trailer saves.

Hey sandy do alll your floorboards need to be full length. To me it seems wasteful to saw the banana in its full length form. Cutting that long in two lengths would yield more boards correct?
@sawingwithsandy
@sawingwithsandy Жыл бұрын
Great question Bill. I only need to have full length floor joists but will use random lengths for the floor boards on top of the joists I figure. I also don't like wasting too much of the log when they're crooked
