i think ultimate has the least bad low tiers of the smash games, and a lot of former low tiers like incineroar ascended to mid tier. and the low tier in this game is also really small proportionally, and bottom tier is just ganon

Bro battlefield is like one of macs best stages. Up tilt up b on the platform kills super early and also the fact that you can JUMP to the platform without wave landing is great in general.

24:03 Thanks for this video, and the 2 characters in the end were my favorite fighters I wanted in the series, even though I haven't put my foot out there to actually compete yet, the sheer harassment I got online at times when I wanted both Mac and Banjo to be improved in Ultimate's life was very upsetting. I'm not happy with how they ended up, but I am glad they were able to get some results regardless, and the next game BETTER give those 2 the best treatment ever. Their games are some of the best gaming has to offer and that's why they made it into Smash Bros.

Little Mac always felt like a joke character to me. He absolutely stands out because he is literally just a guy, a really skilled fighter but still, just a guy, among a cast of characters that kills gods for fun, and he goes directly against the game's main fundamentals to do his own thing, it's so funny and I love him for that

He was more punishing if you fucked up and I think he got camped much worse there but the movement tech he had was cocaine to use. You get full neuron activation when you connect dtilt > nair > footstool > dair > KO off of a guaranteed jab reset.

Hard disagree on Mac being better in Ult than 4. The ground game was way more relevant in 4 compared to Ult because jumping wasn't as good so having the best ground game meant something. Perfect pivoting also greatly benefitted Mac's combo game. Look at sets from Cagt or the Japanese Mac mains and you'll see he did much better

saying that mac is better than he was in 4 is... unfounded. Yeah, he was buffed, but Ganondorf was buffed even more and is worse by every standard. 4 mac had better matchups (still not great) and wasn't considered bottom 3 by almost anyone in 4.

not to mention mac also had an even stronger ground game in 4, as he had much more guaranteed setups into his kills (the most notorious of which being down tilt into ko punch which was actually something to be scared of in 4 whereas in ultimate it's a 50/50 at best). plus smash 4 was a more slower, grounded game, so while mac was still a bad character, the engine and meta of that game benefitted his playstyle a bit more than it does in ultimate's more faster paced air focused game, and even then some of the buffs he did get like his side b not sending him into free fall anymore still came with drawbacks like not being able to use the move again after being hit out of it, along with the many other nerfs he has gotten

Like there were points in 4 where you get to a certain point offstage and you're better off side-bing into the blastzone to start the next stock rather than trying to recover. In ult with dair/fair boosting and directional airdodge, he can come back from some stupid distances compared to chars like Doc and Ganon. I'll concede that he lost a lot in the engine change though, losing perfect pivots and the unnecessary nerfs to dtilt didn't help either.

Ganon is also better than he was in smash 4. You may be wondering. "He's lower on the tier list that can't be right." Well everyone worse than Smash 4 Ganon in Smash 4 is buffed in ult, and the overall power level of the game is way higher. So while Ult ganon > Smash 4 Ganon. Everyone in ult is better than Smash 4 ganon so it looks like he got worse when in reality it's more accurate to say he got power crept.

(I’m aware it would come in as a B Tier if it qualified but that’s still not a major and even if it was my point stands) While what he did was impressive this is an extremely rare outlier and it took 6 years for this to happen. Good shit to the mac player but this prob won’t be replicated for another 6 years, if you want to win at a high level pick a mid/top tier.
