wip animation meme since the poll i put in my community tab said you guys were interested in seeing more wip stuff!! Not sure when i'll finish this, I kinda lost steam and then got super distracted by botw, but my goal for it was to try and replicate the a:tla artstyle. I think I did pretty ok! hopefully i'll finish it sometime :D

Great animation that really captures how Aang progresses and feels throughout this whole show. He goes from "the boy in the iceberg" to "Avatar Aang" so quickly and so young. He, like so many he's with, had to grow up and sacrifice so many things. These short seconds show his inner struggle and it's so well done. Beautiful as always Casey!

thank you so much!! ;__; i feel like aang and his character arc is kinda pushed aside for zuko- and i love zuko, don't get me wrong, but aang is a character with so much depth and trauma that gets overlooked by the fanbase at large because he's an optimistic happy-go-lucky kid. he and katara are my favorites so i'm always like *holds them up like simba* appreciate them

​@@Billisse honestly yeah, i wouldn't want aang to be a broody grumpy character but i think there definitely could (and should!) have been more emphasis put on how he's dealing with his entire culture being gone, when to him it only feels like it's been a few weeks. especially since zuko gets so much room to process his trauma on screen... but also, that's super dark, and i know avatar goes into heavy topics but it is still rated tv-y7... it's possible the show wasn't allowed to go into greater depth for aang :c

@@Gothfrog The Dragon Prince (made by some of the same people) has a similar problem with the fanbase. People tend to push aside Callum. He's always second best to Rayla, and it makes me sad. On top of that, he doesn't seem to get much credit for his achievements in-show. His narrative gets a lot of focus, sure, and that's great! Rayla has been lauded as a hero too many times for me to count, and she deserves that praise, but... Nobody's called Callum a hero. He's been on the same journey, fought for the same mission. I just want to hug him through the screen. (Don't even get me started on Through The Moon...)

After watching this, I just realized something. Aang was the ONLY Avatar that had to grow up quickly that I know of in the franchise. All the others had time to learn the elements and grow up some but Aang didn't get that choice. And this animation speaks the rest for itself. It really implies that even though he's the Avatar, he was still just a kid doing an adult job that he had no say in the matter. And you can see the pressure from his duty, the ongoing war with the Fire Nation, the genocide with his people, and people wanting him to kill the Fire Lord when he keeps asking for a different solution that doesn't deal with death because of his own morals and culture (don't know about that just taking a guess), was getting the best of him. But he had to basically suck it up and grow up about his problems and worry about everyone else instead of himself. Again, even though he's the Avatar, Master of all Four Elements, a reincarnation and the bridge for the spirit world... He was still just a kid. Sorry for the rant. Was basically thinking this while watching this and had to put it down ^^;
