I've never been loyal to Eastenders but I remember my parents watching it about this period... I was only 13 in 2002 and still think the performance of the pair of them is so powerful

I remember this storyline like it was yesterday, too me this is the greatest storyline by Eastenders in terms of the lay out, the acting and these Halloween episodes in particular are just iconic! That line by little moe “AND ILL PUNCH YOU RIGHT BACK” still to this day puts tears in my eyes and makes my hairs on my arms stand up! Kasey and Alex played these parts amazingly!

I wouldn't agree with this. Although I don't watch Corrie anymore they still have had some brilliant and intense performances tackling hard issues over the years-check out Suranne Jones's [karen mc donald]performances which can easily top this in her mental breakdown from Xmas 2004 before she left-that was truly Oscar worthy. Lucy Jo Hudson [Katy Harris] also gave an extremely powerful performance in her 2005 demise. Bill Ward[[Charlie Stubbs] and Katherine Kelly [Becky McDonald] also give very powerful performances during their stints in Corrie. Other very intense performances would be Sandra Maitland's [Mandy Jordache] and Anna Friel's performances from Brookside which were very intense and powerful. Brookside has has probably some of the finest acting in soap in its day that no other soap can ever top whilst dealing with real and gritty issues. And I say all this as a lifelong Eastenders fan who watches nothing else except Eastenders really nowadays.

@@shanefolan I admit I've never watched Corrie but I've seen some good clips on YT. Maybe it's not right saying EastEnders is the only show that tackles controversial storylines, it's just the only show I WATCH that does it to this extent and realistically. Actually what I've seen from most of the British soaps is really good stuff in regards to writing and acting.

​@@heidos7 I think Eastenders gets the cred for being the 1st British soap to break taboos and push boundaries etc but it was actually Brookside in 1982 that 1st began to tackle hard hitting issues. Soaps used to get criticised for copying Eastenders when in actual fact Eastenders seemed to copy Brookside. Brookside really set the standard for all the others and what we see today. The Trevor/Little Mo story could be said to have being a rip off of the Trevor/Mandy story in Brookside. The kathy Beale rape storyline could be said to have being a rip off of the 1986 Sheila Grant rape. The pedophile stories they did too were already done by Brookside with Trevor abusing his daughters. Even the sensational stories like Den getting murdered and buried was very similar to Trevor Jordache

wow i was 8 when this happened and yet i remember it like it was yesterday, they were so many good storylines, steve and sasikia,dan and phil, phil and lisa, beppe and irene etc. This one stood out, it was soo poignant, eastenders was always the talking point at school even though we were just kids, not sure we should've been watching it to be honest, but it definitely taught us.

Back when Eastenders did great, well researched story lines about issues. They got the power/control elements of abuse absolutely spot on with this scene and were well ahead of their time. This is over 20 years old yet control and coercion has only been properly understood in recent years and only recognised in law since 2015/16. Both of them played these parts perfectly and obviously did a lot of their own research too. Stunningly great actors with a true love for their art! Come on Eastenders; stop with your lazy storylines, your quality is now no better than American daytime soaps
