Thank you so much for the review. I've been looking for this for a while. Since the ZV1 is advertised as a tool for vloggers, many people reviewed it as a video camera. But I want to get this little guy for still photos cause I know it's at least as good as the RX100 mark 5.

This is a beautiful series of photos, and interestingly, they remind me of the contax T2, which I once owned. I use a Fuji XT3 & X100V for stills, but I want to get this camera for vlogging. It’s nice to see it can take quite lovely stills. May I ask, what photo editing program did you use for these images? They are so warm and rich, they look like film.

Coming back 2 years after my last comment. I now rarely use my ZV1 for vlogging (the Osmo Pocket 3 is now my vlog camera.) I use this camera so rarely that I’ve actually considered selling it but looking at this makes me realize that I’ve kind of missed out on one of its coolest features, a really nice walk around stills camera. Did you shoot all in RAW? PS: I used to have a Contax T2 and it’s interesting how this kind of reminds me of that.
@ChrisBolandАй бұрын
Thanks for coming back! As I think I mentioned in the video, I only had this for one day, but I enjoyed it. I even bought the X100VI , but don't take it everywhere. A real carry everywhere camera is a great thing.

I haven't heard of the Sony ZV1 before, but these pictures turned out great Chris! I'm looking into getting a vlogging-type camera because the stabilization it provides seems like it would be good for photo walks, but I don't really have any complaints about the videos from my Pixel that I'm currently using, so I don't think I'm going to make the switch yet. Anyway, Merry Christmas!
@ChrisBoland3 жыл бұрын
I think you're right - a good phone camera will be able to do lots of what this can. Although it's mainly meant for talking to the camera style vlogging I think. You, like me, have managed to avoid that :-) Merry Christmas too! :-)

Hi Lino. I use quite a few adjustments - I like to add contrast, a little saturation, a bit of grain, and also play with the colour channels too. Thanks for watching.

Do you shoot with negativ exposure comp for those shots? Colors look lovely
@ChrisBoland3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Benjamin. I find with all digital cameras it's best to underexpose and protect the highlights. The shadows can usually be rescued more easily. Colour-wise I just tend to play around with them a bit in Lightroom.
@Binjmn00003 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisBoland thx for the insight. Workflowwise: Do you just set it to like -1 and just forget it? Or do you keep fiddling with exposure comp from scene to scene?
@ChrisBoland3 жыл бұрын
I almost always use manual settings for exposure. However, setting it to just slightly underexpose and using auto might work. I would try it and see how the results are for you, there are lots of right ways. The biggest effect on the final images for me is shooting in raw and editing.

Hello. Hope you can help me. I have an XT20 with XF18-55 and I like it however it became a hassle carrying a lot of things when we had a baby. He is almost 2 years old right now and very active so my other issue is that I keep missing shots since the auto focus (eye and face detection) isn't really locking. My brother had sony mirrorless and I think the autofocus is superb. Do you think I'll be ok replacing my XT20 with ZV1? It's compact size and auto focus are the 2 main reasons but I worry that I will not be happy with the results since I sometimes use jpeg. But I only do casual photography. May I know your thoughts please?
@ChrisBoland2 жыл бұрын
Hi. I only used this camera for a day, so I'm not an expert! :-) I have several Sony cameras and the autofocus is excellent. The Fuji XT20 is an older generation camera and that lens isn't the fastest to focus - though I do like it. I can understand why you'd want to upgrade right now. I would strongly suggest the Fuji X100F or V. Or perhaps XE4 with a small f2 lens.
