Daaaaamn. Little Richard was 62 at this performance. Oasis and Madonna were topping play lists in 1995 and it had been forty years since Tutti Frutti was first released and yet, there he was - still lifting the damned roof off the place.

I live in Vegas and there was a one night only concert at Orleans Arena with Little Richard, Chuck Berry, and Jerry Lee Lewis. I can tell you while they're all legends Little Richard just stole the show, it was INSANE! He needed help getting to the piano but once he sat down OMG he had that arena rockin'. I'm so glad I was able to see him at least once. I don't know how he did it but he never lost his voice.

@@decomposingdiamond7355 totally agree, im white from a young age I was brought up on rock and roll my parents are musicians, it wasn't until later on and the power of the internet you realise that 'the King' Elvis and others Jerry Lee Lewis were imitators of the likes of Little Richard, Chuck Berry etc nothing against Elvis but the only reason he was labeled the king of rock and roll was due to racism of the white people refusing to listen to the original talent like little Richard needing a white person singing black music to accept it. Amazingly little Richard in interviews states that he didn't mind Elvis as it opened the door for him to a larger stage yet he was a victim.

He didn't gain the super global game he justly deserved The type of fame awarded to Elvis Presley and the Beatles. Little Richard took the public stage during America's Jim Crow era and before the signing of the historic civil rights bill. He once said "He invented rock and roll" You all have heard his music and seen this man uniquely original performances. You also know if he had been white his world fame would have shot through the ceiling of heaven. He is gone now and I hope whatever dimension God sent his soul is devoid of racism and hate. Wherever you are tonight Little Richard may your soul find peace and joy.

@@loughrey101 well first of all elvis wasn't as great a musician as little richard primarily because he never wrote a single song in his catalog. Sure he had a decent voice but that's all he has going for him. This man created rock and roll while inspiring young minorities to get into music and build the music we all love today. And all elvis did was make rock white and shift the public's eye away from these incredible musicians (not a political statement).

samdwich That's all right was released before anything Rock 'n' Roll like from Little Richard. Why do you think you’re so woke when you consider Little Richard and Chuck Berry to be the creators of Rock? It’s simply not true, they all had a lion’s share in doing that. Also, do you seriously think that either Chuck or Richard would appreciate your childish squabble? Elvis, Berry and Richard were all great artists and that’s it, you moronic prick.

For me Richard was the greatest rock & roller ever. His stage shows were high octane and he never failed to entertain. I saw him a few times here in the UK, twice in the sixties. The last time I saw him was in 2005 and although he was not in the best of health he gave us 90 minutes of sheer enjoyment. i took my wife to see him as she had only heard his records and she was blown away. She went rushing down to the front, caught up in the frenzy. That was the last time we saw him in the UK. There is a book called The Life And Times Of Little Richard, The Quasar Of Rock and it is a superb read. I would recommend it. You will not be able to put it down

Personally I LOVE the way Little Richard always, subtly, reminded people where and who , and how Rock n' Roll as we know it , started. He was not going to let it go down in history as a white-washed genre of music. That he is the true architect of Rock n' Roll music. That it starts with him and Chuck Berry. Good on him for keeping the truth alive.

I am absolutely heartbroken on the passing of the true King of Rock 'N Roll, the one and only, Little Richard. A huge influence on me but also an unsung civil rights giant as during a time of great division in America and extreme racism towards the African American Black Community, Little Richard pioneered the way for a black man in elevating the Blues and Rock into the mainstream of White America but still loved performing to integrated crowds. His raw stage presence and energy, not to mention his vocal range, power and musicianship dwarved the likes of Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis. They all performed each others songs, as most Rock 'N Rollers did, but Little Richard stood head and shoulders above them all. May you Rest in Peace you absolute legend!

@PeanutSpring3
@PeanutSpring3 4 жыл бұрын
@@brownin329 Interesting thought process, but I feel the same can be said about colored people excluding whites, because they believe that the white man can't be as good as the black in his own field, and if a white person is added, its only because of their skin. There has been recent hate directed towards Elvis because he "stole from black music." So you want him to play classical then? People constantly doubt Eminem skill and talent and refuse to put him at the top because he's white. The great Larry Bird of basketball was as good, if not better than Magic Johnson, but being white in a black man's sport strips away credibility for no reason. So in conclusion white people can be as good as black people in the entertainment industry, causing white people to put them on a pedestal, while black people rip away accomplishments... Then incredibly "woke" people will agree with the black people to make them selves seem like good people.
