It was not something that slowly grew as some kind of subculture. He revolutionized music. Oh an no, this is not boogie-woogie. Boogie-woogie, as you should know, marks the second and the fourth beat. Rock n Roll marks the first and the third beat and has at least twice the tempo.

But it's thanks to Elvis that he got that famous, EP recognized real talent and introduced them to a broad public, which helped tremendously to end the idiotic country wide segregation that was plaguing America. Even Little Richard was thankful that he made his Tutti Frutty song famous, he said it himself: he made him way more famous after the Ed Sullivan performance. Hating on Elvis is ludicrous, since he's THE main reason why tons of young white Americans from these years stopped being racist and started to disregard racist prejudices. That's why lots of people consider elvis "the king", not because he "invented" it, hell he never even wrote a song by himself, but because he made the gender the "new trend" of the time. B.B. King, James Brown and many others considered elvis "the king " for these reasons. Even nowadays, tons of kids keep discovering Little Richard thanks to EP. They were both on top of the game, and both deserved and still deserve "The king" title. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWW1p4mMfLp0iNk

Not only because of how great he was in himself (for his voice, his talent, his energy, his charisma ...) but also for being a pioneer of a musical genre, Rock and Roll, which ended up becoming the most cultural movement important from the second half of the 20th century. Without Little Richard there would be no Rolling Stones, Elvis, Beatles ... This man is a legend and the influence of his music on the musical culture of the 20th century is incalculable.

I am absolutely heartbroken on the passing of the true King of Rock 'N Roll, the one and only, Little Richard. A huge influence on me but also an unsung civil rights giant as during a time of great division in America and extreme racism towards the African American Black Community, Little Richard pioneered the way for a black man in elevating the Blues and Rock into the mainstream of White America but still loved performing to integrated crowds. His raw stage presence and energy, not to mention his vocal range, power and musicianship dwarved the likes of Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis. They all performed each others songs, as most Rock 'N Rollers did, but Little Richard stood head and shoulders above them all. May you Rest in Peace you absolute legend!

Just heard a few days ago. How come the world mourned the passing of Elvis Presley, but not Chuck Berry and Little Richard? Those were the 2 major influences that took a form known as 'boogie woogie" in the 30s and 40s and transitioned it into what we know as rock and roll? The Beatles, Stones, etc would never even be heard of if it wasn't for these guys. RIP Little Richard, Chuck Berry
@padurarulcriticsicinic48464 жыл бұрын
I may be wrong, but i believe it has to do with the fact that Elvis died like in his 40s, while Chuck Berry died at 90 and Little Richard at 87. Elvis was still in the center of attention when he died, so that had a more devastating effect, while Chuck Berry and Little Richard lived to a ripe old age. That does not diminish their contributions to music and the world, but people seem more attuned to people whose lives ended too soon than people that lived a full life. May they rest in peace and a thank you from a man who uses their music to deal with life and all of its hardships.

I saw him live. Best performer I ever saw. Very funny & genuine and he made himself available afterwards to meet, shake hands and take photos with anyone who wanted to. I can't say enough about what a nice, genuine person he is. Love you Richard P.

How the hell did he get better with age to such a degree? He was always incredible but he managed to have the most hard hitting voice with every new era of rock music. Fucking amazing!
