Little white Starfish in saltwater aquarium

I have tons of these starfish in my tank. They came in on some frags from wwc or tsa. They only get on the glass, sandbed, and rocks. They aren’t a problem for your corals.

I was given Asterine starfish in a glass jar. my daughter is delighted. I don't have an aquarium. How long can they live with us? what needs to be done to prevent them from dying if we don’t have an aquarium?

They won’t live in a glass jar 😞 you’ll have to get a small aquarium at least.

You don't get a real sense of how many asterina's are in your tank until you throw a couple harlequin shrimp in there and see what the glass looks like the next morning...they'll be a ton of stars just lined all along the top of the aquarium trying to avoid the shrimp. At that point you can just run your fingers along the top water line and collect them all with ease, and quickness. Don't forget to trade your shrimp back in before they starve. And BTW, they can decimate zoas once you have a decent amount in your tank.

They can literally eat a sand sifting starfish that’s more then 20x there size in 1 week, they’re insane. I miss my pair.

i have this in my tank and they will eat brand new zoa and star polyp frags so i cannot keep these types of corals anymore. I will find them on the corals and when picked off you can clearly see eaten away spots. I dont think they always eat these corals because in other tanks (larger tanks, mine is 12gallon) there are probably more food sources but i wouldnt risk it, i remove them anytime i see them on the glass. You dont HAVE to but i suggest it, if you get a harlequin shrimp return it to your LFS you got it from or give to another reefer after its done its job or else it will just starve to death.
