Might sound weird but I like how after Athena stepped up, Telemachus didn't suddenly become some incredible fighter out of nowhere when realistically he's had little to no training. He was still on the back foot the whole time against a much more experienced fighter, but he got the confidence and ability to at least start to hold his own and showed he's not a complete pushover to the suitors.

honestly im...actually somewhat on the opposite end of stuff here, in the oficial animation Telemachus beat the living shit out of Antinous in that part and nearly won had it not been for one big counter from Anitinous, and he was very much pissed off about it with the ''Go back and cry in your corner'' so im slightly waiting for an animatic to go the rout of ''Alright and here Telemachus goes ultra mega badass mode'' maybe even have Anitnous win by cheating or straight up by pulling out a weapon in a fist fight

@@demonslayer6267 No Antinous didn't just win because of one strong punch. Before that he blocked all Telemachus punches after taking some hits. He became more defensive while looking for a opening and took it. Yeas Telemachus beat the living shit out of him after Athena made his thoughtsproces quicker but Anitinous was the more skilled fighter out of those two. What I like about this animatic is how both resorcesfullness and opetunistic Telemachus is as he goes to bite while being grapple, headbutts and uses his cape to throw Antinous of. He may be less skilled but he is still Odyssius son

It’s a small detail, but I love the way Antonius shuts Telemachus down in this. A lot of animatics have Telemachus do something stupid, but in this Antonius just tanks through the punches and grabs Telemachus’s hand. It comes down to a very simple difference in physicality. Antonius is so much stronger that no amount of strategy and clever tactics are gonna beat him in a straight up fist fight. It makes it so that Telemachus didn’t do anything “wrong” that made him lose the fight, there was just nothing “right” he could have done to win it. It makes both of them feel competent.

Like Antonius is in his 30s or something and has experience in fighting. Telemachus is only 20 and has no experience in fighting, probably because his dad and all the people who were close to his dad are gone, so he had nobody who could train him to fight. A fully grown adult can easy beat someone who is just out of teenhood, especially if the adult knows how to fight and the 20 year old doesn't know annything about fighting. Telemachus is lucky aunty Athena came to safe him.

Neal illustrator's ruthlessness animatic definitely did it the best, having the crew fully involved as they desperately try to sail away from Poseidon while he's battering their ship with waves

I mean in the original story they all bullied Telemachus because he wanted to find his dad. So it makes sence that they are also involed in giving Telemachus a hard time. No wonder Odysseus later in the story teach his son to use a sword on the people who tried to marry his wife.

I love how even though Telemachus has 0 fighting experience he is using whatever he has on him to defend himself. He bit Antinous to let him go, used his cloak to slow him down, and head bumped him when he was cornered. Telemachus is clever and a bit of a trickster, using whatever he can to defend himself. With Athena’s confidence boost you can see that’s where he starts using his head more. Kinda like Odysseus whenever he is stuck in a corner. Which we really shouldn’t be surprised since they are related to Hermes

I think I’ve said it before but I absolutely love how Telemachus looks a bit more feminine in style and such, it really makes him being raised by Penelope alone a focus. Like, he’s a mama’s boy (in a good way!) and combining that flair with him struggling but never stopping his fight creates such a beautiful dichotomy within him (Also him realising his head is bleeding, so gross, its incredible)

I think the reason Athena has short hair could be because it would be better in combat, more hair gives you a larger target to your head which isn't ideal and could very easily cause tons of brain damage in fights. That's one of the reasons I cut my hair for wrestling, it's a good but overlooked tatic that is very useful. Also the helmet would probably be Hella hot and longer hair keeps more heat in (mainly if it's thick) since hair acts as a flexible barricade of sorts, not allowing heat to escape. (Sorry if this makes no sense im only in my second year of middle school 😅 )

It's great how Antinuous does look genuinely entertained and that he's so, relatively, young looking. All the suitors are presumably the guys who were too young to go to the Trojan war. Adored you having Telemachus actually BITE with the appropriate lyrics, showing both how determined, and how unskilled he is. The way you had him instantly shift to more strategic attacks after Athena's help was excellent, especially with how you can infer that she's explaining and setting each of them up with Quickthought.

I love *how* Telemachus fought back in this animatic. He doesn't just suddenly start punching harder or start dodging hits he probably shouldn't with his inexperience- he takes advantage of Antinuous's overconfidence. It looks like he takes off his cloak and uses it to wrap Anti's arm behind his back for a moment, or that solid headbutt while Anti has put himself way too close. It does a great job of further selling Tele's inexperience and weakness as a young and sheltered fighter, and the suitors' brutality, and an even greater job of pushing Athena's modus operandi. She wants a warrior of the *mind*, not just some brute. Telemachus here is graced by Athena's influence on time, not just magically made stronger for a moment only for it to end for no reason. Great work.

I feel like too many people in fandom lean so far into "precious sunshine boy" that they neglect Telemachus' desire to rid his home of the monsters overrunning it. But your Telemachus is a fighter, even if no one taught him how. He bites and headbutts and gets some good hits in before Antinous' experience overpowers him. I adore he turned what was a weakness in the first half of the fight in his cape into a way to advantage by making it so he couldn't get a stright strike and on every miss wrapping it around Antinous's arm to pull him into uppercuts shows that like his father Telemachus is also a warrior of the mind just one who is not practised in fighting

I love, love, love how you draw Telemachus', Antinuous', and Athena's faces. They're so expressive & distinctive! I also love how you show Telemachus is an untrained but clever fighter. The whole cape/robe thing is so smart! And when you're getting your ass beat by someone who intends you serious harm, everything is on the table, including biting! It just shows how Telemachus is fighting for his own safety, whereas Antinuous is toying with him. This is one of my favorite songs, and this is easily my favorite animatic for it!

Something that makes an impression is that - she never tells him her name. Telemachus deduces she is Athena completely on his own. This is a parallel to how Odysseus knows who she is when they first met. It also shows that Telemachus is also clever, giving Athena good reasons to want to guide him instead of just doing it for Odysseus's sake.

I like the detail where Telemachus used his cloak to distract the other guy in the second half of the fight. It was a weakness earlier, when the other guy used the back of his cape to throw him around, but he was able to use it to his benefit once he new he had to loose it. I feel like we're not seeing as much of clever Telemachus in these animatics, and I want that badly

Dude! I love how brutal and dirty it is! This is not a clean fight, these two are giving each other some serious injuries (Telemachus was bleeding from the back of his head, like Jesus!). Well done! I have SO MANY thoughts about this animatic omfg!!! Antonius immediately proving he has more fighting knowledge than Tele by removing his cape because he knows it’s a liability because it can be grabbed and it weighs him down and inhibits speed and movement. Antonius just PLAYING with Tele, even though Tele is obviously taking this seriously. And I LOVE that Tele actually throws punches and fights back BEFORE Athena comes into the picture - the other animatics I’ve seen really don’t seem to have him trying at all, or have his attempts be halfhearted at best. Your Tele is obviously putting power behind his punches and is SCRAPPY. Antonius looks so sassy at 0:20 help I love it 😂 Tell him to bite? Alright. This isn’t a fair fight anyway. He’s in it to survive. So yeah he’s gonna BITE. Hell yeah Tele. And honestly? The fact that he thinks to do this BEFORE Athena shows he has the ability to be wily like his father. He was in a bad position and he got himself out of it by playing dirty. Total Ody move. We love to see it. I love how you have Antonius doing more than just punching Tele. You are showing that he is a skilled fighter in this sequence - he’s not just a typical schoolyard bully. He KNOWS how to fight. But he’s USING IT to be a schoolyard bully. The crowd of suitors catching Tele and then pushing back into the “ring” because Antonius isn’t done with him and they aren’t done being entertained? *chef’s kiss* They are not just passive watchers here egging Antonius on - they are just as culpable in this, despite not being the ones throwing the punches. Tele actually managing to sloppily block some of Antonius’ punches - again! Love to see that he DOES have some self defense training. Which MAKES SENSE considering that he is the prince. The reason why he can’t be crowned king is because there’s too much unrest and he has no support and people just want Penelope to remarry. SHORT HAIR ATHENA LES FUCKIN GOOOOOOOOO!!!! For the SAME REASON capes are a liability in the field, SO IS LONG HAIR! Athena having short hair is a FANTASTIC CHOICE!! And her having noticeable scars?! Like, yes she’s a goddess, but she’s the goddess of WAR and she has 100% fought against other gods who ARE capable of scarring her. HELL YEAH. And standing simply in a soldiers stance? Duvetbox you mad genius. Athena giving Tele the information on how to do the uppercut - the proper stance and form since he said himself HE DOESN’T KNOW HOW. So just telling him to do something won’t help. And that transition of his eyes lighting up as he gets the info from her, to the black and white shot of the proper fighting positions, to him successfully completing it? *screeching happily* AMAZING!! Lmao Athena bonking his head with her spear “no.” 😉 Her instantly healing his wounds with a simple wave of her hand? THE POWER OF THE GODS AND THE POWER OF YOUR ANIMATION AAAAAAAAA 🙌 I actually really like that we can see that time is still slowly passing even during quick thought. Antonius isn’t stuck in the punched position, he’s not on the ground completely - he’s slowly getting up. Because quick throught does NOT stop time. So things are still happening. Very slowly, yes. But there was SOME progress in time. Antonius actually grinning after getting sucker punched by Tele. He’s like “ooh is the little wolf actually gonna make this fun?” He’s still not even worried. 😭 I like Athena’s spin at 2:05 because it kinda gives her cape that wing effect! 🦉 Go matador Tele! This further proves he is 100% Ody’s son - his cape was used against him so he knew it was bad to wear it. Result? Take it off but use it against your enemy. Sure, Antonius still managed to grab at it and use it against him too, but he LEARNED and used his head (literally like 5 seconds later lmao). Ody AND Athena would be/are proud. 💜 I also like during the fight that even when Tele’s punches land you can tell they don’t hit as hard as Antonius’s do. Tele just isn’t as strong as him and he doesn’t have as much force behind his hits. So even when his punches DO land, they don’t pack as much power as Antonius’s do unfortunately. I loved that Antonius DID have blood on him at the end. Tele DID uppercut him. He DID get at least ONE good hit in. Yeah, he didn’t win, but I think it’s important to see Antonius bleeding right next to Tele. The monster can bleed too. Then at the end, when Tele is smiling at her and is happy and Athena looks away… she’s obviously thinking “what do I say here? How much do I reveal to him? I don’t want to mess this up too.” THIS WHOLE THING IS A MASTERPIECE I WANT TO KISS YOUR BRAIN /p

This is wonderful, I love how he fights like he has the time to think about his actions but still isn’t a good fighter. When I started fencing I thought way too much and ended up freezing, if you actually had the time to think you would definitely have an easier start but would absolutely still lose.

Out of all the Little Wolf animatics I've seen so far, this one has the most fun portrayal of the fight in my opinion. Telemachus starts trying to keep up with Antinous, but can't. But after Athena gives him some help, he starts using his robe to block attacks and using Antinous' weight against him. It really shows that he's more like his father than he realizes.
