Wow I remember watching Lulu's introduction and praying no one got hurt. Gatsby was hilarious sitting there eating forage while chaos went on all around her. Sylvester, Sir Boss,, did a wonderful job of keeping things under control. Sylvester was one-in-a-million a very special guinea pig....I really miss Sir Boss he was so sweet.

My two boys’ introduction was so stressful that my 21 year old daughter needed to leave the room. The five week old BABY kept chasing and trying to hump the 9 month old! A rescue owner explained to me that the baby was so scared that his reaction was fight, rather than flight! I added a cardboard box with cut out doors and windows and that helped them to chill out a bit. I watched them for four hours before I decidedh in they were safe together. They’ve been in the same DIY C&C cage ever since! It’s got three hidies and a small tunnel and is six feet by 2.5 ft. So, even though their introduction was dramatic, they’ve ended up doing well together for the past six months!

4:40 Minnie was my spirit animal ❤️. She was my favourite pig, next to Sylvester. She was friendly and nice but if someone hurt her friends she was taking it personal like, HOW DARE YOU?! One of my boys got scared of the new baby pig and squealed so loudly! Pooh was being really friendly but Frodo hadn't seen a baby since he was one so was freaked out. They're now best friends, although Pooh still doesn't get the idea of personal space. :)

We have two boys currently, I just got a third one, and I’ll be introducing him in about a week or so. I’m nervous but I’m excited and reallllly hope they all get along. It’s an L shaped cage, it’s the same size as a 2x7 c&c if it were straight, so I think it’ll be plenty big for them.

My advice is to eventually have at least like 5 hidies in there cage plus. Couple of tunnels… you want to have more hidies than guinea pigs… I now have 3 hidies and 1 tunnel in with my 2 males… it has brought so much peace… they always used to argue and chase… now when Tucker goes in one house, Chewy still has a choice of the other 2 hidies… that way no one guards the one house all of the time… good luck.. it’s very hard to find 3 males who will live together happily.. it is possible, but you’ve picked the toughest group of piggies,..

Hello, I love watching your videos it's really helpful in learning how to live with our piggies. We've been having our piggies of about 3 months for 2 months now (all bears). They were living happily together, with some occasionally arguing and irritations. last Friday evening we saw a cut on one piggy his nose. He was teethchattering towards us and eating way slower, very uncommon behaviour for him so we figured he was in pain. In order to monitor him better, we took him out of the group into a cage next to the standard cage. The vet told us we did a good thing to monitor him closely and separate him, besides the cut there's nothing wrong with him (luckily!). And the vet told us to introduce them with eachother again. And this is kind of my problem. The one with the cut was the boss, since we took him out, the next in line became boss. Now we are introducing again there's a lot of teethchattering, fur that stands up and biting (without blood). Do you, or someone else, have some experience with re-bonding piggies?? But here

@@susannabonke8552 according to the vet it wasn't. Luckily it did heal and he's eating properly again. We did put him back in the group, but he was only showing stress symptoms, ate less and dropped weight, so we separated them again after a week.

Piggie psychology: a new piggie is brought into the apartment/house, is soon taken out of the carrier and deposited among the piggies who are milling around the Introduction Zone ( outside their cage; gate is closed : no escape from the Introduction Zone!). Stress. Arriving piggies is nervous; resident piggies are nervous. FOOD in the IZ can be a pleasant distraction. How would it be different, if at all, if new piggie were put in a temporary cage or enclosure for x number of hours, so they could all smell and see each other from “ a safe distance”, even if only separated by the plexiglass or fence? To more gradually get over the “ shock” of a new arrival.

hey, darf ich mal fragen wieviel meter auf wieviel meter ca dein gehege ist? ich schaue deine videos wirklich schon seeehr lange und so unglaublich gerne und mein gehege ist aktuell ca 3,5qm groß, etwas länger als 2m, etwas breiter als 1m und noch eine etage dazu und ich habe 3 piggies.. und ich weiß nicht ob die größe ok für ein 4. wäre oder eher das schon am limit ist für 3, evtl weil es relativ schmal ist mein gehege kommt es mir zu klein für 4 vor und mich interessiert das wirklich schon so lange wie groß deines in etwa ist, weil ich deine haltung einfach so unglaublich schön finde und eine kleine herde halt auch echt was hat

Hello 👋, I know this is unlikely to be seen but I am in a bit of a pickle. I have had two guinea pigs for about a month now, I got them from a pet store due to a lack of rescues where I live. Due to the pandemic the pet store workers did not handle the guinea pigs and they are very skittish. I have gotten them to eat from my hand but when attempting to touch them even my most confident piggie runs away. I am now concerned about nail clipping as I worry even the cuddle sack method of picking them up won't work as they are so afraid of being touched. Can anyone offer any advice or reassure I am honestly feeling desperate !!

It takes a very long time to tame piggies… But health checks, nail trims and boar cleanings still need to be done. Definitely use the cuddle sack method to get them out of the cage.l. Most piggies will run from you when you try to pick them up… so just try to be fast and quick before they know what’s happening. If your piggies are skittish they may be very easy to trim nails.. because they may frozen in fear… don’t worry it’s common.. take advantage of that and trim.. go to the you tube channel Squeak Dreams. She just did a video on how to trim the nails of skittishor squirmy pigs. If all else fails. Wrap them snuggle like a burrito using a towel or pillow case.. take one foot at a time out of the burrito and trim that foot and put it back in… just remember only to take one at a time.. it will trick the piggy into thinking he is standing on a solid surface so they will remain calm even if you hold them vertically… one more tip.. use regular people nail clippers and squeeze before clipping in the spot you want to trim the nail at.. if they don’t react cut it there… if they winc3 and pull away, then move further out away from the quick.. good luck.

@@evewaterhouse9869 Our piggies don't like being touched or held, either - but nail clipping is mostly fine. They'll sit on our lap, and we pick up only one foot at a time. Make sure you get one of those special scissors made for clipping, normal (nail) scissors (for humans) are a lot worse for the task.
