My #1 problem is pricing! thank you for addressing it. Too many of my customers try to low ball me and since I am a small shop, I usually give people a "deal". Then I end up frustrated that I didn't make any money. My aha! moment was the "low end client" comment....hahaha.....that is who I need to lose! Once I tried to charge the industry standard and I was told, "the reason we come to you is you are cheap" . that was the worst dig ever!

Yes! and once we realize this, we realize pricing doesn't need to be hard. Knowing your works worth is so important, especially in the florist world. Why should you charge them cheaper than everybody else? 🤷🏻♀️ We love a good aha moment... it's moments like this that wake our brains up and we start to think hang on what am I doing. 😂💖

this was really helpful thank you!! And its the same for me with deciding off the bat after a few courses that I want to do this . Just got my EIN (business number in USA) and planning to sell pre made bouqs at farmers market to start off. I was in corporate sales and have felt that too of how everything should be charged like you said with the hourly and hard goods and even gas honestly. We shouldnt be expected to do so much out of pocket

Hi there. I'm self-taught flower design want na be 🤭 after many weddings that I done for my friends for free last 2 years. And getting a lot of compliments. I thought I'll expand my hobby and hopefully make money from this. I've been watching your videos and was very impressed at how simple you have explained your tricks and tips. Very much appreciated. I have a wedding request and not sure how to go about it. How do I charge my client for only my times/ design because she will provide all the flowers and foliages. All I have to do is turn up and make it !! Any advice would be fantastic thanks x

I love your story! So amazing that you took the leap and turned your hobby into your own business. What about offering up a day rate? Or you could charge her $XXXX for XX hours? In my experience, a day rate is a simpler solution but try both on and see which feels better for you. 😄

Thank you for this, Kathleen! Would you consider making a video about how to respond when someone says they found someone cheaper? Do you try to convince them? ❤
@LittleBirdBloom Жыл бұрын
I won't spend a minute worrying about it. The goal is to get your enquiry process to the point where you're booking one in four enquiries. That also means you're going to hear NO a lot. 🥳

So would you break it down differently in the contract to the clients? For example, if you go with the 50% model, Would it be wholesale x 4 then 50 % as the item list price as labor on your quote separately? I've been doing 3 to 3.5 x as list item price, 20 or 22% labor showing on contract. Realizing I'm losing money!! I I only do events in Sedona, AZ. Not sure if I could go higher in this market. I've been doing weddings here for over a decade .
@LittleBirdBloom17 күн бұрын
In our quotes, I don't allocate design labour as a separate line item. Our quoted prices include the design time so then in the contract it just has the list of items and any added extras. I'm a fan of simplicity. 😚

Hi! Love your content thank you!! I have a question- what are your thoughts to pricing for artificial- for example a lot of us use artificial for long lasting outdoor installations! Would you mark up an artificial flower the same as a fresh flower? Many many thanks! X
@LittleBirdBloom Жыл бұрын
Hi Jacalyn, yes I would use the exact same approach and apply the same pricing formula. I'm happy to hear that you are loving my content! 🤩

What if the event planner purchases the flowers for the wedding. What would you charge them for making the arrangement for the event?
@LittleBirdBloom9 ай бұрын
I'd think about setting up a day rate for the actual production. Plus, I'd think about adding in a project management fee because they'll need guidance on specific flowers, stem counts for each, tips to make sure they're buying quality wholesale flowers etc. 😍

What exactly is a day rate?

@LittleBirdBloom I have another question. How can not low ball myself and or not price myself out of my account and have my customer change her mine and go with real. Because my price is the same or higher.
@eday633211 ай бұрын
do you have any advice for also tailoring to a lower-end price clientele? I obv want to be profitable but I do feel bad that the wedding industry is tailored to the rich ... I want to be able to still help lower income folks
@LittleBirdBloom10 ай бұрын
Yep! You can still follow the same pricing formula but focus on using more lower-cost flowers. Also, you can always host a workshop or offer flowers by the bucket and have clients design their own blooms. 🥳

How to let them know the sizes of the arrangements?
@LittleBirdBloom Жыл бұрын
If I'm on the phone, I usually use a point of comparison like "It's about the size of a dinner plate" (if it's a bigger bouquet). If it's on the website, I actually include specific measurements (i.e. vase measures 10cm wide). 🥳

so the “wholesale” price includes the flowers and supplies to make the arrangement
@rose.sann4 Жыл бұрын
also i will be charging wholesale x 4 + my hourly rate ?
@LittleBirdBloom Жыл бұрын
Yep, you're exactly right. 😍
@LittleBirdBloom Жыл бұрын
The most common equation taught is wholesale x 3 + 20% (for time / hourly rate). The shortcut I prefer to use is wholesale x 4. Of course, you can always charge more and if x4 + hourly rate works for you, go for it! 🤗

@@LittleBirdBloom i have another question. do you ship your arrangements in box’s and if so how you do it and what company you use for shipping (Ups Fdx etc ). also can you make a video on where you get your supplies. thank you so much for everything. it really helps💗🫶🏼💞
