I am reading les miserables for the tome topple right now, and i am reading it in french. The french edition is about 1640 pages because french sentences are generally longer. When translating, a lot of those extra stuff that are crucial to make up a sentence in french don't exist in english

I think the largest single book I read was To Green Angel Tower by Tad Williams. I had the original hardcover that had a reduced font size but still came in around 1080 pages. When it was released in paperback they couldn't release it as a single book as it couldn't be bound, they had to release it as two huge paperbacks with each volume of the paperback being over 800 pages.

I enjoyed this video and know how hard it is once you start a book and mean to read it in bite size pieces, small portions each day that after a short period you instead start to try and rush through the book and finish up with the inevitable eye strain and unwholesome look around the eyes when you eventually finish it after a possible marathon reading session that keeps you burning the midnight oil! My biggest problem is that I tend to also read books which should require a great depth of concentration, but that goes out of the window when I get a large book and simply try and cram in as much as I can in as short a time as possible as if I won't have a tomorrow to finish the book! Hope you enjoy reading Victor Hugo's "Les Miserables," thankfully I have never attempted "War and Peace" wonder if you have, oh I feel a migraine coming on!!

BooKing She's right, lol! There are a lot of names and they are all in French so it's sometimes hard to remember the names of the side characters, but the main characters' names are easy enough. There are also some chapters that are difficult to read through because they're a deviation from the main story (there are 4 chapters on slang/"argot") and - in my edition, at least - 60ish pages on the battle of Waterloo. There are other boring chapters but don't skip them because there are interesting points scattered within! And the story is brilliant and so worth it.
