Embrace the imperfection and "dodginess" is what gave me the comfort and tame my anxiety 😄😄😄I made my first ever bag from one of your videos, I was so so so scared lol I bought my machine when I turned 30, only used my machine a year and a half later all because of your video.

When doing the box corners, lay the two seams on top of each other (this makes a point of fabric where the corner is), and stitch across on a diagonal. Then cut the excess off. Saves cutting the squares out, and you can even stop measuring if you are good at eyeballing the distance from the corner. Much faster.

Somehow for years we were able to sew most of our clothes on the kitchen table without any fancy gadgets. It all had to fit in the broom closet when put away. It doesn’t make us more virtuous, but makes me question how much I really need when downsizing in my now elder years. Glad to watch your video.

"EMBRACE THE WONKYNESS!" saith she, the #1 Wonky Queen of the Universe! Lady Dodgy! The funny part, at least for us assorted Americans, that your UK accent, which we associate for some reason with authority, makes it all seem kinda formal and official! LOL so you've probably done more to encourage those "across the pond" to sew that 10 other podcasters combined. So thank you, Your Royal Dodgyness! Thank you! Love and hugs from Virginia USA to my UK fam! I read a lot of the comments, and not only do we have a HIT, but looks like a lot of new subscribers too! Congrats, my girl, congrats!!!

This is so much fun to watch. I made bags a decade ago and I recently started again, so this is very good timing. The humor and the reality is just so perfect. I guess in the US we'd say they were wonky bags (dodgy isn't a word here), and I love that all over the world we can have slightly-imperfect-but-perfect-for-me handmade items. (:

Really enjoyed watching this, a familiar British accent. I can assure you that you’re not the only one who sews like this, or lives in a busy house sewing on your kitchen table! 😂 It’s how I learned and copying shapes from my wardrobe. I turn things inside out to draw around them! I’ve only recently invested in a set of patchwork square rulers to help neaten everything up as I’d like to sell some of what I make. I still use my ironing board for cutting everything out, it makes it easier for ironing. Still not got a craft room with neatly organised fabric on shelves. I also recycle as much fabric as I can from old clothes and linens. Your bags all turned out amazing! My favourite is the black and white with yellow zip. I’m inspired to make something similar but add a bright pink lining. 😊

On KZbin this video appeared in my screen, probably because I was looking how to make a little notionpouche (I hope this is the right word) for in my new shoulderbag. I watched your video because you make me smile often when I watch your videos ánd because I saw your old kitchen knowing you are now having a new kitchen 😉. I love the way how you are doing your bags; not too fussy, just enjoy! Those clamps look really handy, I still use pins. Then I saw you kept your clamps in a plastic bag and it made me smile again: so many beautiful bags but not one made to keep your clamps 😂. But hey, this video is one year old, maybe you have moved them to a nicer place by now. Thank you Ali for sharing this video and making me smile! Greeting Marjan 🌷

The timing of this tutorial was perfect. (Wish I would have seen it before I did mine!) I just finished a bag, from another tutorial, and accidentally cut squares out of all 4 corners. I just went with it and ended up with more of a boxed, rectangular bag similar to your little boxed bag but much larger. I intended to make it for a knitting project. It actually fits the yarn skeins very nicely. Your bags are all beautiful and I love that you are fine with “dodgy” instead of perfection! Thank you. :)
