We who grew up here and live here tend to be somewhat jaded. We're so quick to point out all the things that are wrong or that we hate. It's always lovely to see the city through fresh eyes, from someone who hasn't experienced it before. Reminds me that yes, indeed , with all it's faults, it's still a pretty great place to be. Nice to meet you and glad you enjoyed it.

Should you come back to Toronto again and you don’t want to be stuck in the rain or cold winter weather, use the PATH. It’s an underground network that connects many buildings. For example, you can go from Union Station to CN Tower via the Skywalk. Or head North on the PATH towards Eaton’s Centre. You will find many stores and food courts along the way

I like the province of Ontario's old slogan on our licence plates: Yours to Discover. Toronto and every other cities and towns in the province are proud to carry that slogan on their back. There is so much going on around here. The only thing I have to complain about Toronto is the traffic for those that have motorized wheels!! Yeah, it's so cliche but it's a fact of Toronto. Other than that, Toronto is great! 🙂 You visited Toronto during one of its busiest times with so much happening everywhere every week. Cheers!

Toronto might feel somewhat like home to you partly because you have relatives there. But, it might also be because, despite the vast distance and disparity in climates between Canada Australia, it's been noted by many people from both countries who've spent time in the other country, that Canada and Australia are actually quite similar in quite a few ways, such as culturally and politically (both being large countries with small populations which were colonized and developed by the British, but which have also become very multicultural societies). Just a thought.

Glad you enjoyed your time here. But I wouldn’t say it is the safest. Over the last few years the number of homeless and people with mental illness have like increased a lot. I refuse to go downtown now because of all of that.

Don't let your guard down in Toronto too much, it's not as safe as you may think. They have roughly the same homicide rate per 100k people as NYC in the 3s, lots of carjackings, robberies etc. Odds are you will be fine walking around during the day but don't let your guard down too much. It's actually getting worse each year with lots of drug fiends all over downtown, more than ever before.

@@derekmerchant5646 There were like 70-90 homicides the last 6 years in Toronto. That's the highest in Canada and more than MOST American cities. Pointless using rate for tiny towns like Regina and Thunder Bay. Also no tourists are going there unlike the US where tourists go to even small and medium cities like Miami and Boston. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. People get carjacked and their houses broken into like everyday. People get murdered every week. You probably live in a nice area and don't see the crime. I live on the UES of Manhattan and don't see any crime either, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

@@derekmerchant5646 No point denying the facts, you can google them. Highest count murders, carjackings and home invasions in your country by far. Thunder Bay only HAS 100k people and crime rate is determined based on 100k people. 🤣 Sure, if I have a city with only 5 people and all 5 people get shot, then it's technically the worst city on earth isn't it? 🤣. Use your common sense. 5 murders a year in Thunder Bay will produce a higher murder rate than Toronto's, but I would prefer not to risk being one of the 90 homicides in Toronto as those happen every week in often in open places like malls and on Queen street. Can't believe you tried to convince to use rate as if 5 homicides in Thunder Bay which only has 100k people is some extremely dangerous place, way worse than Toronto. 🤣🤣🤣"crime rate is always based on per capita" and he is talking about some tiny village with only 100k people in it. I CAN'T!🤣You really gonna tell people St Catherines is some ghetto, run down war torn city too? It has a higher "rate" than Toronto. 🤣

What are you talking about? Toronto's homicide crime rate is exponentially lower that pretty much all American cities of comparable size. Toronto’s homicide rate has hovered around 2-3 per 100,000 people annually. Many large American cities, like Chicago, Baltimore, or St. Louis, have homicide rates well above 10-20 per 100,000. In extreme cases, cities like St. Louis have seen rates exceeding 60 per 100,000.

as a native torontonian, nobody goes to eat at st Lawrence market except for tourists who will overpay for any food that is bought there. Toronto is well known for its food scene and you can eat a myriad of ethnic foods from around the world for a fraction of the price you would pay at St Lawrence market. The CNE is also over priced and the food is either fried or mediocre. the rides are definitely what you call " vintage" and you should only go there is you have small children who would enjoy themselves on the children's rides, but stay away from the adult rides. sketchy.

People who say Toronto "sucks" are usually those who simply can't "make it" in the city. They often have menial jobs and poor personal traits. They usually leave to the relief of most of us.
