The lesson of the episode makes no sense because what Jaiden was afraid of doing was losing a duel which would cause his friends to get hurt. Losing to Kaibaman had no repercussions to it. So he wasn't really facing his fears. "What matters is that you're able to get back up." Yeah, see, he's participating in shadow games so if he loses one of THOSE duels, he won't be able to get back up.

Don't worry, kaibaman isn't kaiba. Kaibaman is to kaiba as dark magician girl is to Mana. In that they're monster spirits that kaiba and mana created out of themselves (kaiba on purpose, mana on accident). Despite basically being another version of themselves, though, the monster spirits are still separate characters with their own thoughts and personalities.

I still say that it's an older Seto dressed as Kaibaman. I like to believe that as he's gotten older, he's matured quite a lot more than he used to be, and he's finally come to realize the truth behind winning and losing - they're EXACTLY the same thing - and not only has he come to realize that truth, he has both ACCEPTED and EMBRACED it. He has seen reality for what it is, and now feels that it's now his responsibility to teach others that same truth - Winning does feel great, there's no denying that, but you also have to remember that there will ALWAYS be someone who will ALWAYS be better than you at something. It IS okay to lose sometimes - it's natural. And it is okay to cry if you lose, so long as you don't give up on what you believe in - the pain of that feeling is natural. It's there and it will ALWAYS be there. But, in due time, the pain WILL fade and before you know it, everything will eventually become second-nature to you. Just because you've lost something you feel is important to you, it doesn't mean that your life is over. The being standing before Jaden isn't the duel spirit of Kaibaman! THAT is the REAL Seto Kaiba! And it just goes to show that no matter how old you are, maturity comes for everyone someday. We are NEVER the same person everyday - We could be someone one day, and someone completely different the next. Seto has embraced that truth, and has become a MUCH better person over the years as a result of it.

I think that's the point. During the Battle City Semi Finals for a brief moment Kaiba expressed pure joy about dueling Yugi. "Yes! This is what dueling is all about! Everytime I duel Yugi he pushes me to my limits. Challenging me in ways no other duelist has. The intensity of this duel is everything I hoped for."

Yeah this has to be Kaiba in a costume. Its canon only Kaiba has the 3 Blue Eyes cards. Also his maturity can be explained due to GX taking place well after series 1 and the movies. And check the Japanese dub they talk exactly the same and use the same crazy laugh and vocabulary.

The whole "It's okay to lose" concept in this episode doesn't work not just because it doesn't sound like something Kaiba would say, but if Jaden, as the main character, loses the wrong duel, the world is literally doomed. In other words, he can't afford to lose.

I don’t know if it’s the real Kaiba or not, but I think that over the course of the original series Kaiba did learn that it’s okay to lose. He might not ever say it out loud, but I think he knows that now. Which really makes me appreciate how Kaiba/Kaibaman is be the perfect character to teach Jaden that lesson.

Finally someone who understands Kaiba learned to accept defeat. However Kaiba did say it out loud. Kaiba publicly admitted to Yugi and his friends that Yugi is the true King of Games during the Ceremonial Duel at the end of the original series.

I don't know, a few cards based on the Plagues of Egypt could probably be pretty nasty. Same could be said for King Solomon, cause there are a few legends where on top of wisdom God also gave him the knowledge of how to summon and bind angels and demons to do his will. As for the "is he really Kaiba in disguise"- I agree with you on that. The only way I could see him doing this is if Pegasis had promised to make all the new Blue-Eyes support that came out in DSOD.

You forgot the defusion victory is a callback to Yugi's duel with Kaiba where he threatened to kill himself I believe, Yugi dealt with the Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon by using defusion
