Coronation Street Tour 2018

My guided tour of the new Coronation Street set at Media City - This only opened today & i was the 4th tour to go round. This was £35.00 and i was on the tour for about 70 mins. If you would like to go on this tour please make sure you visit coronationstreettour.co.uk/

Loved it! I have a vivid imagination, so as you walked I truly was in the moment. David's character is special to me,my late hubby was attacked, eerily drugged and taken same way,but the bench where he tells Shona got me. I have lived this,his anger,nightmares etc,so kudos to Corrie for dealing with this. And for not turning it into a joke,showing the attack would have weakened the message. Yes I am fully aware of this… the original set was at Granada Studios on quay street.

The outdoor set shown above is not the original outdoor set (there was one partial street set that was occasionally created in the studio in the early 60s then in the late 60s a small outdoor set was created and Granada, ever the big spenders!! - not - created a slightly better version in 1981 shown onscreen in 1982 but it was still not full size allowing for small square tv screens!! In 2012 the above much larger version was created. Like most of its audience I stopped being a fan around the mid-90s. It now gets a third of its original audience. You wont get quality producing one episode a day and to coin a phrase: the audience isn't stupid.

I was meant to be doing this tour tomorrow - Saturday 2nd June but after watching your video earlier, have decided to cancel. It seems like a lot of walking and hanging about for little return, no peeps inside the sets, not what I was expecting at all, your video was most helpful, thank you. I went for my 10th birthday it was amazing the factory looks fabulous before the roof collapse I was able to go inside of the police station and where they do all the wedding the do on top of the police station so supprising ! Best tour ever!!

I can remember touring the old set and it was so fun but on viaduct street , on the old set it was really tight like Devs shop was very close up to the wall where viaduct bistro were !! But now it’s very far away from each other and when I went on the old set, Victoria apartments weren’t even there 😂😂😂it was all scaffolded . I went on the tour in 2014

The old tour was so much better i think,now there seems a lot of standing and walking about not to mention guide talking a lot! when i went there back in 1989 we got to see the interior set like i mean the whole lot i even had permission to stand behind the rovers bar for a snapshot the original one they film in,then we had a tram ride around the outer studious before being dropped off in coronation street with no guide whatsoever,i remember peeping in the letterboxes lol! i cannot imagine even being allowed that now,i have a disability so tram ride was a great idea to get around never missed out its a shame the tour seems so dull now in comparison to my experience,thanks for sharing..

That was lovely. I haven't watched the Street since the late '90s cos I went off soaps in general, but it's great to see it thriving. Massive, isn't it? I went on the Granada Studios Tour in 1989 and we were terrified when we went round the set in case Percy Sugden came out and told us off! We loved Percy, but we didn't fancy meeting him! It was great to see down the ginnel. There was no viaduct across Rosamund Street in the 1980s when I went on the old set tour, and I was puzzled when I glimpsed the show in recent years about how people gained access from the Rosamund Street end because of the massive viaduct there now. You've solved the puzzle!

I went on the old set where you were allowed to go in to see the sets with the guide and when you entered the street from the bistro you could just wander around on your own to me that was better you could spend as much time at you wanted in the street taking photographs of yourself outside the Rovers etc

at 9:53, you see the side of the corner shop and the entrance to the flat, where Daniel and Shinaid live. On the old set this door was in the middle and the indoor set reflects this with the stairs coming up into the middle of the flat upstairs on this set the stairs would be coming up at the back of the flat the reality is that door goes upstairs to the top floor above the terrace

I visited the original granda tour and set. Its sad that they no longer allow inside set tour. I didn't realise that the community garden is dedicated to the Manchester Area Attack. I no longer watch Corrie but was brought up on it.

I have made a model of the new rovers pub with the extra window. And it has a lift off roof section so you could see the interior inside. it also has lighting too. I love the show to bits.watched it since I was a kid.I am now 55!

good tour but he kept getting little things wrong, It is NOT a single camera drama, like most soaps each scene is filmed with multiple cameras, yeah they'll film it a few times, but they do not have the time to do every close up and wide shot separately. single camera dramas are like broadchurch, luther etc, also when he said the set was reconstruced brick by brick and is exactly the same, that's not right either, the old set was actually about a third smaller than usual, doors slightly smaller etc, the new set everything is bigger.

Yeah the set was smaller at the old studio especially out side as only 1 car could go up & down the street but the n the new set they can get 2 cars at a time to go up & down the street, thanks for watching

One fact I think he got wrong was when he said Florrie Lindley bought the corner shop from Mrs Hardman. There was a Hardman family in it ( May and her daughter Christine) but the corner shop used to be owned by a woman called Elsie Lappin.

I've been to the previous site a couple of times before it was left to rot,but there was no tour guide on the tour outside only inside around the interior sets.You were left to your own devices outside,much better than having someone rabbiting on,the old tour was only £16 and as much as I like Corrie I wouldn't pay £35 to see somewhere i've seen twice before despite there been a few more shops about.

I’ve tried to look for who opened the set in 2013 & I couldn’t find anything but i found that the queen did open the old set in 1982.

well the last set tour you were seeing a set that wasn't being filmed on anymore, so in theory if some member of the public messes up the set, then it doesn't matter, this new one is a working set, every little detail needs to be left alone, so they can film on it, they probably left a set alone ready for the next working day.

That guide knows his stuff. I went on the Granada Studios tour back in ‘91, and also the World of Coronation Street attraction at Blackpool in ‘96. I did the appear in your own scene thing in the cafe with Gail, Alma, Kevin & Curly lol! I met Sean Wilson, Martin at a nightclub PA. the work that must have gone into the reconstructed set here, and now the recent expansion with the increased number of episodes. I don’t watch it regularly now anyway, all these controversial storylines!

I’m tempted. Have you seen the vid someone else uploaded of what the site of the old set’s like now, all run down and overgrown, shame. I think 6 episodes is way too much, some of these new characters aren’t very interesting and the acting leaves a lot to be desired!

See the new set tour is a bit bad as you can’t see any interior sets and I wouldn’t want him to take me around I’d wanna walk around on my own like they did in the 2014 set and also the Victoria court flats fire started on the 2nd floor not the 1st floor , You missed out what the bistro used to be called as it was The Joiners , then Nicks bistro , then Just Nick’s , then it was changed back to Nicks bistro and then it was viaduct bistro. But also on the old set , when I visited the Quay street set - Victoria court apartments weren’t there they were loads of scaffolding blocking it and inside the medical centre was a mini shop for the tour. And Kate is not Katie She is called Kate.And why is coronation street made out of cobbles but Rosamund street isn’t?

And at Gail’s house , when fiz and Tyrone crashed into the garage aka Gail’s bedroom around the window why aren’t the bricks different to the original bricks of the house and how come the bricks of D&S Alahan and the Webster’s house , same as Eileen Grimshaws house when the Webster’s house and the corner shop were damaged from the tram crash? It’s so weird really they change the top bricks of the viaduct but then they completely forget about the other incidents !!
