The best crop to plant after where your carrots have been are potatoes! If you plant garlic where carrots have been, you are planting the same kind of veggies at the same spot and that should be avoided. you can find good crop rotation schedules online. Another very good thing to look at, are companion planting. My father used to plant unions next to potatoes, but those plants don't like each other so they don't help each other grow. Onions next to carrots work great (they fool the pests, onion flies get confused by the smell of carrots and carrot flies by the smell of onions. A great thing to do is to plant basil under every tomato bush!

They are so precious. I love love large sunflowers 🌻Gorgeous parsnips. And I thought weeds were supposed to be just part of a garden (🙄) Mine think they are.....Very looking forward to the seed orders and garden plans. Thank you for this video. hugs

Your fall garden looks great. I hope the Abundance Kale seeds germinate well. For your weedy area - can your torch it? If its not too dry. That would remove some of the seeds. The cabbage is gorgeous - please show us a picture when you cut it open. Stay well.

excellent video again! so enjoy your gardens and share in your delight! Honeybees love catnip just as much as they love borage. Also amazing that you still have elderflowers on your elderberry bushes, have you tried elderberry cordial? I wait impatiently every spring for the flowers to show up and make at least 2 batches each year and freeze it in ice cube trays. mmm it is so delicious! especially during our long canadian winter. We are expecting our second calf any minute now and we are always grateful to you for posting that video on how you milk and calf share! God bless and keep you and your family safe!

Hey Chelsea - Really appreciating all of the videos you've been sharing of late. I am also growing a Deadon Cabbage or two. I got starts from a local nursery to plant in a flower bed (at the request of my husband who though it would look cool). I've never grown them before and they are still beautiful and growing. From what you said I will leave them until a good frost. Thanks again for everything you do.

Yarrow really does take over…. I’m a tad jelly! I’m only on my third purposeful Yarrow year. This year I spent a few stolen hours transplanting Yarrow seedlings having watched how it attracts teeny weeny wasps that attack a variety of veg garden caterpillars. Dill flower does same. Got loads of Dill flowering and going to seed this year. Oh! And does anyone know why I have loads of Swallowtail butterflies hovering around my UK garden this year? Haven’t seen Swallowtails for decades! 🦋🦋🦋

Weeds in the perennials ...There's always an understory to the understory! The elderberry is an example where the tree line limit is dictated by how warm the summer gets. Not how cold the winter gets.

I tread hard down onto extra large parsnips and carrots. If you hand-push down (before pulling) parsnips or carrots, they loosen and extract nicely. Little effort. The only time I use a garden fork is with leeks on a cold winter morning. If anyone can tell me how to easily harvest garden bed leeks without a folk, I’ll give them my 120 year old heirloom fork…. 😃👍🏻🏆

Around where I live, do-goody “foragers” take truck loads of elderberry flowers early summer to make elderberry cordial 😡😡 Leaving S*A to convert into berries. There used to be plenty for everyone until foraging documentaries and youtube lefties became a thing.
