@@maggiezhang7210 the positive pressure pumps are no longer allowed for clamming. I'm also putting out a new video with a clam gun since this method is no longer legal. Good luck!

Thanks for sharing. Wished there is a closer clam spot in San Mateo, Santa Cruz, and Monterey county coast. I know of only one but the production and quality aren't very good. Still searching though.

hunting for littleneck clam spots is definitely hard. I got a lot of no luck checks around bay area too. tomales bay is the nearest place i know that holds them

@@skinnypenguin5857 I'm a new subscriber and think you are very special at this. You have a great voice, are extremely good at this, and seem much smarter and more skilled and more chill than most catch and cooks out there. Keep it up. You inspire me to get better. I try, but too often get skunked. Consider me another deep San Franciscan fan.

Hi, I'm looking to go clamming in a few weeks. Can you recommend which area in Tomales Bay to find Littleneck clams? Is a boat required to get to the area?
@skinnypenguin58573 жыл бұрын
just look for gravel area along the beach. we found it very common on the opposite of lawsons landing, all the way inside the bay. so yes, if you want to do that area you need a boat. but honestly if you see any tidal zone with gravel that the clam can hide, you can find them

Where you get that measurement gauge? Also have you tried dunes beach?
@skinnypenguin58574 жыл бұрын
www.amazon.com/SF-Dungeness-Measuring-Washington-California/dp/B085NM3D1G/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=crab+gauge+with+clam+hole&qid=1610678485&sr=8-1 this is the gauge. dunes beach - nope, but it does not looks like having any littleneck clams though. also I know that area (beachs south of half moon bay) holds a lot of baby pismo clams that look like littleneck clams, but they have to be larger than 4 inch to be legally taken, so watch out for that.
@markshannon84484 жыл бұрын
@@skinnypenguin5857 awesome, thanks, I really like that gauge and just purchased one. And yeah I was more talking about beach crab snare fishing at dunes. Heard its been good. I've been going to the jetty and pacifica. I've never clam fished but watching your video has me interested in trying it. Finding where they at is going to be key. Keep up the good work, and great videos!

Why not wear a glove when digging the horsenecks ? Those holes might have other broken shells on the way to your target.

yup, a lot of cracked shells and gravel and stuff. i got tons of little cuts every time lol. but i don't like gloves, so would just avoid them whenever i can (except those must-have scenarios like diving)

Please cover up any hole that you dig and put the smaller size clam back to where you dig it. Don’t just leave a trail of hole and unburied and take off. That is irresponsible.

i did buried them, and flatten the whole area after I was done. but i was using my leg so the camera did not clipped it well. Now that I know ppl might have this kind of concern next time I will. Thanks for the notice!
